I am just wondering what some of you guys and gals have planned for this year?
For me, deer, turkey.
Long shots, but am in for a lottery draw on moose and sheep. Maybe pronghorn.
-
Michigan whitetail and turkey, and as always, hopeful for that elusive Michigan elk tag.
Mule deer in September and hopefully antelope in October if the draw is good to me. Aside from that, just building up some more points in some other states.
-
Going to Namibia in August and back to Alaska DIY moose in late September. Im watching (not shooting) this year till my buddy shoots a moose, he's due! Whitetails in Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. Going to get busy late summer, for the rest of the year!

Ryan, you are living the dream. Well, my dream anyway. :clapper:
Good luck, Gary

Have a great time in Namibia Ryan. I know you will do will. Please say "HI" to Antonie and his wife. If you need any further information before your trip let me know.

Arkansas for turkeys.
-
I’ve been off for a while due to elbow surgery a while ago. This year my goal is to get some pheasants with my bow this year!
-
Alaska for Brown Bear. Leave May 22nd.
-
I’m hoping for a good year. By the end of April I’ll be hunting turkey on some land near my house. By July I’ll be chasing carp and bullfrogs. I’m also hoping to get down to Maryland to go bow fishing for rays. Come September, I will be going after squirrels. In October I will focus on deer and bear. I’m also looking into a week of hunting grouse out west. By early November I will be chasing rabbits and pheasant. Finally, I hope to finish the year with a post-Christmas hunt for more deer. I’m blessed to live in Pennsylvania, near large tracts of state game lands and ample hunting opportunities. :campfire:
-
Huntnjim,
That should be quite a hunt. Are you going in a group or just you and a guide?
Also what gear are you using?
I lived in AK, my son was born there. I’d love to go back but probably not going to happen.
I’ve seen six grizzlies in the wild. They are such an awesome animal.

No where special. And yet, very special to me. Just out my backdoor for Turkey this spring, then some local 3d shoots throughout the summer, then back out the backdoor for deer in the fall. My old hunting buddies have died or moved away. No more "trips" in my future. :campfire:

Mine started in January in Laredo into February. Got same plans for 2024.
We'll see what comes up.
-
Depending on the Kansas draw, hunting Whitetails during the rut in November.
-
Spring turkey at home, Bear in Ontario in June, Antelope in September, then deer at home.
-
I am hoping to end my career (retire) in August. My hunting has always been local, simple, and daily in length. I am truly hoping to spend some time, with no schedule, camping and hunting & fishing. I'm not even sure how to plan something out of state, but hoping I can make a couple of hunts to see other locations and game in the future. Probably be DIY to be able to afford it, but that's OK - just doing & enjoying it will be reward enough.

Just came back from a texas javelina hunt last week. Planning on hitting a number or traditional 3d shoots this summer.
Turkey season opens in less than a month here. I'm planning on actually having time to hunt since I'm retired now. Morel mushroom time too. Then it will be Kentucky in the fall for white tail and whitetail here at home.
-
Plans for this year: Turkey at home, a lot of foam at ETAR, and lots of stumps before heading to the San Juan’s for elk, then back home for deer and various small game.
-
Alaska for Brown Bear. Leave May 22nd.
Best of luck, brown bear is at the top is my bucket list.

Ryan,
Are you retired? :biglaugh:

The usual, Montana Deer, elk, antelope, and bear. My remaining hound and myself are both a little long in the tooth to chase the Mountain Lions…my way. I have max Montana points on Big Horn Sheep and am 1 short of max points for Mountain Goats, might get lucky.
I will be going to Alaska after moose again, but am taking Hunter, I will be concentrating on getting him his first moose.
-
Ontario, Canada for black bear in September
-
Hey Walt, nope not retired yet, but 25th year at my job....I get pretty good vacation on anniversary years, get an extra week and can buy 2, on top of normal vacation time. 😀

My biggest goal is to get out more. Due to health and other circumstances, I was not able to do any serious hunting for the last three seasons. As I get older, hunting as well as numerous other activities just get more difficult. Balance has become a big issue. As for destination, I will be content to get to my little plot about 10 minutes from my house.
-
We are hoping for a Florida Gator tags for August and also hoping to draw Michigan bear tags. Then just staying close to home for whitetails
-
Good luck to everyone. I’ve got SD spring turkey. Saskatchewan spring bear. Saskatchewan whitetail and whitetails at home if anything survives our winter
-
elk and bear
-
I'll do some deer hunting around home. Then there will be the Laredo Tusk Roundup for javelina and hogs. Then Manitoba for black bear next spring. I might mess around with the local coyotes a bit too.
-
Good luck to everyone. I’ve got SD spring turkey. Saskatchewan spring bear. Saskatchewan whitetail and whitetails at home if anything survives our winter
You seem to like Saskatchewan. Never been hunting there yet.
-
This year will be elk, deer, turkey, and grouse at my local haunts 5 miles east of my house.
Still haven't drawn an Idaho moose tag, but maybe this will be my lucky year.
-
I'm just hoping to find someplace within reach of home where I might have a chance at a deer. Waiting to hear on a couple of things but it isn't looking that good.
-
Turkey in western MD this spring whitetail in the fall. In the fall in WV black bear and whitetail. Not holding my breath but making it a point to hunt more this year and learn.
-
This year I'm hoping to get out more with my bow for some squirrel hunting, trying to get close enough on a pig, and if I'm lucky get drawn for a gator tag so I can finally get one with my bow. Good luck every one!
-
Alaskan Moose in September!
-
You seem to like Saskatchewan. Never been hunting there yet.
Gary if I was thirty years younger I would probably try and move up north just for the hunting.
-
Hmmm. My wife has family ties that lives and ranches in Saskatchewan. I should check that out someday.
-
Aside from the usual pigs and whitetail here at home in Texas I'm gonna work on a short list of animals in South Africa, hit my land for whitetail in Missouri and look for other opportunities as they arise.
Freezer has plenty of meat. Probably try some fishing this year just to change things up a little.
-
I am in the draw for Big Horn both California and Nelson MT Goat, Antelope and Mule Deer in NV and in my home state of California maxed points for Tule Elk, California Big Horn and I’ll put in draw for Antelope deer, and Black bear OTC turkeys and coyotes. And in 2024 January in Laredo into February.
-
Hope to take my first whitetail with a stick bow here on public land in Virginia! Got a week set aside the first of November and couldn’t be more excited to spend some time in the woods
-
2022 was the first year I've felt my age since my 30's. I felt old at 68 (duh?). I had a new hip installed on the right side on January 7, 2023. My right leg is now 7 mm longer than it used to be and 1mm longer than the left. All went well but doc says stiffness and soreness will last about a year. Walking on uneven ground is the most irritating.
So, I'm planning to hunt turkey, squirrel, and whitetail on my own property here in Kentucky this year. I hope to get to Lafayette, Indiana to spend a few days hunting whitetails with my best friend of nearly 50 years. He's battling a nasty cancer again at 78 years old. Mike Bolin, you know Jim Hart. He has had a very rough last 10 years - two cancers and a 30' fall from a broken tree stand. Whew!
Maybe antelope again in 2024.
-
Must be some good private ground bowwild I'm not far from Lafayette, In and I sure don't have anyplace worth hunting. Hope your friend makes out ok with his illness. My wife just got a new right hip Tuesday. She already feels better than she did with the old hip.
-
Iowa turkey, whitetails and a Canadian bear hunt with my new recurve.
-
My goal this year is a bit sobering...I had to have spinal fusion and a host of other things done to my lower back in January. My goal is to be able to hunt the WV mountains hard again and feel normal out in the woods once more. I can't wait for that!!!! There is a lot of healing and rehab between now and then, but that's my goal.
-
Illinois turkey, SAK bear, MAN bear ( in May) Alaska moose in September, then Illinois whitetail. Mike
-
After a 3 year absence due to a combination of moving to another state, complete remodel of our house here and some health issues I’m back in the saddle again. Hoping to find someplace to hunt(could be deer or antelope) before my mid September bear hunt in WI, then deer here in IL and hopefully before or after these some hog hunting.
-
I will be hog hunting in Tennessee in a couple of weeks, whitetail in Michigan ,Ohio and possibly in Kentucky this year.
-

Sorry, I just seen this. One other friend is going. We will be hunting with Glacier Guides out of Juneau. We stay on the Alaskan Grandeur, a 80’ 3 floor Yaght. They have 20’ skiffs to get around and glass from. I’ve hunted Black Bear and fished with them. A 1st Class operation with 1st class guides.
-
It will be all deer, all the time for me this year. WI Buffalo County land and a trip to prime spot in Kansas. My hog hunt is pushed back to next year at Paradise.
-
No big out of state hunts for me this year. Just going to stay in state. . . . But I’ll keep busy enough with a week and a half for spring bears, then august mountain goats, September caribou and November blacktails on Kodiak. Should be fun.
-
As of right now it's not looking promising for turkeys this spring, but plenty on the ticket for this fall. Of course whitetails close to home in eastern Kansas but also planning to burn a week of vacation chasing pronghorn and mule deer in western Kansas.
-
Just got asked to hunt bear in Minnesota with my nephew. Looks like it is a go.
We will be doing our own baiting. My nephew and his brother will be doing most of the baiting.
-
I just booked a flight.... if the creek don't rise, I'm going to be hunting deer in south Oklahoma this fall. A state I've never been in I don't believe. I'm looking forward to it.
-
I put in for a bunch of tags and only drew two Deer and bear here in Ca going to get a hog tag to and heading Texas in 2024 for some Javelina.
