I just got through spending Thursday lunch through Sunday lunch with Jimmy Tidmore on the St Judes Bear Hunt,..... Jimmy will be starting a thread about that later.
However, he was telling me about his son Jet on the way up and taking his 1st buck, a nice 8 pointer, with a gun on his 8th birthday. Jet has been 'playing around' with his longbow like young boys do.
Well, I got to hear the young man's voice lots of times during our hunt and Jet was hanging on every word and wanting to know every detail. I loved it. Once it was time for Jimmy and I to part ways Sunday, I gave him a couple of DVDs of 'The Bowhunters of Tradgang' for Jet's entertainment.
As you hear all the time, "you can't learn to shoot on the internet, a book, a thread(form clock thread on the shooter's forum), or a video", well there's plenty of proof here on this forum that claim is false, and now a 9 year old has totally debunked that myth also. And, also the claim as there is no such thing as instinctive shooting.
Meet Jet Tidmore.......

I’m going to have to take the video away from him before he starts out shooting me! (Not that it would take much to do that.)
But it was funny to watch him walk downstairs and say, “Ok, I’ve been watching Mr. Terry and I think I know what I’ve been doing wrong.” And then have him tell me that he hasn’t been keeping his drawing elbow lined up with the arrow. And then, sure enough, we went outside and he nailed five in a row from ten yards—and I mean bullseyes.
And yes… I’ll be sharing (or at least starting) my Cohutta story tomorrow. It was a great adventure, and I learned a ton.

This is CLASSIC Tradgang!!!! The DVD is awesome overall, and the shooting segment is a totally hidden gem. It tickles me to no end that a young man reacted in such a manner as that, but NOT the results of his actions. Maybe there's hope for future hunting after all. Bring it on young men! :archer:

I'm just revisiting before I go back to the wilderness hunt thread. Again, Go Mr., young Jet and accomplish everything in life. As you have this task before you.

Great job Mr Jet!!!

Seriously, Mr. Jet, it is wonderful to see. My husband passing along his gifts to another young man. We have 2 Daughters and no sons. And he has so much to give, this is great to see someone is benefiting from his wisdom.
I'm sorry if this voicemail came across wrong I have no time to spell check

What a great extra gift from the St Jude Bear Hunt story, this is just GRAND!!!
Go get em JET!

Great to see them start young and grow into the sport. The old saying, "It is hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but a pup is eager to learn" it true.
