Title: Thin White Micarta Material - Source

I'm wanting to put some laminated tip overlays on my bow with one of the layers being a real thin white accent stripe about 1/32 - 1/16".  Where do you guys get your micarta or G10 material for tip overlays?  I see that a lot of knife making supply places sell liner and scale material.  I guess that might work, but most have a minimum order amount.

Dale Stahl told me the white is melamine, the tan in linen phenolic is the natural color of the epoxy .

I have the white and prob have some small pieces, if you know a size I'll look...

If you have any local Knifemaking shows coming up in your area go to one of them for pieces. That’s what I did. You can get an assortment of different thicknesses and colour cheap

First of all you do not need Micarta for tip overlay... Just buy white linen phenolic.  But if you have your heart set on some seriously tough stuff you can buy small sheets of G-10 in different colors here.... Everything BUT white though.

Now look at this one closely... it has white  linen with a thin layer of black G-10 that had a grey /white core on either side.... When i tried to buy more of it, it came solid black.

You could lay up some white linen and compress it with some clear epoxy.

For many years i bought all my phenolic from Dale Staul & Binghams. but now i'm buying my stuff from Kenny here. I'm sure Kenny's got it.    Yes... all of those tip overlays are a mix of linen phenolic in the layers.

Laminated tip overlays are very nice for shaping your tip notches. You can see the exact depth and shape as you file through the layers and get a perfect tear drop shape every time. I've got some detailed video that i did years ago showing the whole procedure if you are interested.

Using that osage like you did on that tip overlay should hold up very nicely. Good looking shape.
