Teresa has a new pattern and wants to hear your thoughts on a name.
This is a new thing for her....Teresa and Fred had a fun tradition of choosing names. On a long ride, or sitting around the house, they would fire away at each other with name ideas. Some really great and classic wool pattern names came from this.
But thing are different now, and she wants to tap into your creativity. I will follow up with some better details tomorrow, but start throwing out suggestions, and each post will be a name in the hat. Here is the pattern:

“ Bristlecone Pine” :dunno:
-
Tundra Ghost
Let me enhance my suggestion with my thought process.
First the pattern, not color is consistent with the timber and woodland ghost patterns, so ghost must be included in the name.
Second, the color has hues similar to Little Delta plaid, which of course is named after Alaska’s famed location. The hues are reminiscent of the beautiful changes colors of the tundra in the fall.
Fred always said the Arctic tundra home of the caribou is one of the most spectacular places to bowhunt in North America. In fact, he successfully hunted all five species of caribou.
This pattern is inspired by the fall foliage colors of the tundra and willows of the north country that Fred loved to visit.
Tundra ghost just seems right.

Here is the pattern on a Pathfinder.
Thanks all, great stuff so far. This may seem like a simple thing, but this pattern was designed while Fred was still with us. Teresa and I were talking yesterday, and we agreed that this is one of the best. Fred would have loved it.
He wouldn't have named it right away....Teresa would have hung a piece of it in his office, and he would have thought about it as he read and wrote.
When Timber Ghost came out, I happened to be at the house when Teresa brought it in to Fred. We quickly went outside....hung it in the bushes, in trees, high up in a tree to simulate a treestand....it was neat.
Keep the ideas coming folks, it is very much appreciated.
-
Thanks Roger, for bringing this to our attention and involving us in the process. :campfire:
-
Sorry about my name recommendation .... I saw it on another monitor and it looked like it had more red in it.
Lets try again....
Super Sage
Magic Sage
Mystic Sage
-
I'm going to throw one out there.....this has been in my head for awhile.
I was looking at a piece of property not terribly far from Fred and Teresa's place prior to him getting sick. I had thought about it being a great place for a quick "ground hunt"....and had invisioned taking Fred there.
As things happened, I didn't buy it until a few weeks after Fred passed. I hunted it this fall, and certain things struck me that I know he would have enjoyed. There is a stream that runs through the property, and the best place to cross is adjacent a large burl on a cedar tree. "Cross at the burl" is something Fred would have liked. Looking through my pictures, I don't have one of the burl, but this is the creek. It's full of tiny brook trout, cold and clean.

My suggestion is Cedar Creek.....
-
Thought of another name - "Red Cedar Plaid"
-
Roger ,
That is one of the very best patterns I’ve seen yet.
I love it and can see why Fred did as well.
He has good taste and married himself a sweet lady who has a talent
“Fred’s Classic Gentleman’s Cedar Jacket”
You can almost smell the cedar/pine scent on that jacket .
Great pattern Mrs. T .
-
Cedar Magic
-
“Deer Creek Cedar Burl “ Wasn’t Fred Elected president with the Deer Creek Archers after his service to our Country ?
-
Looking at the pattern again, it made me think of flamed cedar or flamed juniper veneers for bow limbs, so how about,
Cedar Flame
Juniper Flame
Jason
-
Not sure if this one has been thrown out yet, but as I was putting wood in my outdoor woodstove tonight I stopped and looked up and listened, the area I live is predominately oak hardwoods with white pine and balsams. It made me think back to some of my late season sits when I was tucked into pines or cedars, and how peaceful it was listening to the wind, so short story long…
Whispering Pine
Jason
-
Jason,
I put that out on page 4 already :wavey:
-
O.K. Here it is and since it’s Christmas time and there is such a thing and the color has that mossy look how about this one .

I think Fred himself would even like that name and would approve of it :biglaugh:

Keef, I must have missed that one somehow  sounds like it’s a X2 for Whispering Pine :biglaugh:

Sorry for the lag time on this drawing.....Christmas, a flu bug, a new grandbaby born 2 days ago....Teresa and i have not been terribly productive for the last few days! :biglaugh:
WE HAVE A WINNER!!! We don't have the name down firm yet, but Teresa did a random drawing and pulled MICHPATRIOT out of the hat! I will PM you some details this morning, MICHPATRIOT.
Awesome name suggestions in this contest! Thank you, it really means a lot to Teresa!
-
Thanks again Roger for facilitating this, it was really cool.
-
Thank you Roger and Teresa for everything, and Congrats to Joel for being picked. Still waiting anxiously to hear what Teresa chooses for the name for this pattern. No matter what the name is, it will be the one on my next Pathfinder.
Jason
-
Yes… thanks Roger. This has been really cool. I’ve already ordered the collared jacket in this pattern. Looking forward to finding out what the name will be.
-
Thanks for letting us ad suggestions and thanks to Mrs. T for keeping us warm while we are out in the elements . :clapper:
-
Great idea, thanks so much for the chance.

Took a quick pic of my new Pathfinder yesterday after I got home from Kalamazoo, I think it is going to blend in very well with the pine and hardwoods I hunt. I’mm thinking maybe,
Shadow Hunter
for the name?
Jason
-
Thanks for putting that pic up Jason. That new pattern looks like a winner to me!
-
Stickbender, that is lookin' good.
Shick
-
Thanks guys, my arms weren't long enough to get a really good pic of it. Everyone kept saying how it may be the best pattern yet at the show. I know I'm going to love it!!! I have a Pathfinder in Evening Stand Green that really blended well where I hunt, but I think this pattern is going to be even better!!!
Jason
-
I have the jacket in Evening Stand Green but I'm thinking about ordering a Pathfinder in this new pattern. The pics really help, thanks again Jason.
-
I also have a Pathfinder in Evening Stand Green, and I love it. It does a great job in the areas I hunt. But I picked up the jacket in this new pattern, and it is going to be great for me as well. Both are super well made and will last me for years. In fact, I fully expect my son to inherit them one day.
It’s not the best picture, but it’s the only one I’ve got of me wearing the new jacket in the woods. Hope it helps someone.

"Fred's Fashion"
-
Still no name. but we sold everything we had in this pattern this weekend at K-Zoo. Thank you all!!!!
-
That's great news, Roger. Not surprising at all. It looks great and blends in well.
I went hunting with a friend a few weeks ago. He was dressed in typical name-brand camo, and I was wearing my jacket in this new pattern. And unsolicited, he said, "That jacket you're wearing is way more camo than this stuff I'm wearing."
I don't have anything against name-brand camo patterns—I still wear a lot of it, in fact. But there's something about wool that really disappears in the woods, especially when the pattern is as good as this new one.
-
THANK YOU Teresa!! I don't recall ever winning anything before, and it was quite the shock to get the news!
I wore myWoodland Magic on 50+ hunts last year bow hunting and have fallen for your wool products head over heels! This new pattern is really cool! I can't wait to get this hooded jacket!
Sincerely
Joel
-
Personally like the Evening Stand Brown Pathfinder for South Texas, it just fits.
:campfire: :coffee: :archer2: :campfire:
-
Wud, you may want to give this new pattern a serious look, it has plenty of brown in it along with the green, and other colors to give it a nice shadowy look to help blend into most any surrounding.
Jason
-
Patterns with light colored open patches work well here. With the Juniper Cedar and Mesquite, brown and green mixture.
:campfire: :coffee: :archer2: :campfire:
-
Up for Teresa so she can check again and see how many views she has.
:campfire:
-
There are some really interesting names listed.
That's going to be a tuff choice.
-
Seems like a requirement to have grey whiskers to wear one of these. :biglaugh:
:campfire: :coffee: :archer2: :campfire:
-
Roger, or Terry, did Teresa pick a name for the new pattern yet?
-
Not yet, I topped it so she could see if any others have been added. :campfire:
-
Let's try some more;

“Pine Shadow”
Here I am one morning sitting in my stand and I was wearing my Asbell Buffalo trace olive drab pathfinder and I noticed my shadow on a pine tree across from me in a small marsh where I built a wood ladder stand .I thought it was a really neat picture to take .
