By far, the most wonderful event that I personally have attended. An event, that I feel both honored and privileged to partake in.
Will have two fine trad friends, from California, going with me.
Thank you. Pappy and the whole Twin Oaks group.
-
I, and hopefully my friend Greg, will be joining Scott for the Tennessee Classic this year, as I have two times before, thanks to Scott's hospitality. This is an unforgettable event, and well worth traveling halfway across the country to participate in.
-
Thanks Scott/McDave, for the kind words much appreciated. I have had several calls from CA. Amazing people come from that far but again much appreciated and we will try and show them a good time.

I was about to ask you about this Pappy but you beat me to it. You know I'll be there with bells on. I'm getting ready to start my raffle table project. Looking forward to late April and my trip to Twin Oaks and the Tennessee Classic. :campfire: :archer2: :archer:
-
Really hoping to make it down this year and see what all the fuss is about :archer2:
Maybe even meet the legendary Pat B and a few others :goldtooth:
-
Damon, you won't regret it if you come. There are quite a few Michiganders that attend. I know it's a long drive for you but if you come a few days early it will be more worth it. Folks start coming in the Friday before. Bring the wife and kids too if you can. This is a very family oriented event.
I'll be easy to spot in the bow building area, just ask anyone and they will point me out
-
I'll definitely look ya up, Pat! I'm gonna try and have a new bow or two to shoot with and maybe stock up on some osage. So far it's looking good for a 9 hour road trip :campfire:
-
 :campfire:
-
14 hours, 942 miles. That's a bit long for this year.

Thanks Pat for keeping this up, we are already making plans and hope to show everyone another great time. Got 21 vendors lined up already and will get a list up in a few weeks when more complete, should be about anything you might need the the Traditional/Primitive side of archery.

As long as things go as planned, Steve and I will be there the weekend before as usual. Great time and get to see Pappy and a lot of other good Friends. Love it.
-
Thanks Kurt, always count on you and Steve, it's a fun week, I love early part of it because I usually get a little time to hang out with my friends, later part of the week usually not so much. :)

Got to have a girl warming fire if you want the girls to show up.
-
Pat, warm is NOT just for girls. :nono:
But, I do get firewood envy at Twin Oaks!
Been meaning to take a pic of that thing I talked to you about, but will bring it instead. You know cameras steal spirits. 👍🏼

OK, Kathy, looking forward to seeing you again.
That campfire quote was from an old friend down in Savannah. :knothead:
-
Look forward to seeing you Kathy, always enjoying seeing and talking with you. Ya Pat we love out fire and Kathy is right it ant just for girls. Miss Joanie got our T shirts ordered , I think they look great, Black shirt with white lettering. Hope everyone likes them, been a while since we had black and they always seem to go over good.

Thanks Pat, also just want to make a friendly reminder, it's on the flier but want to be sure everyone knows, no dog allowed at the Classic, their are several shoot that are doing the same so be sure and check before you show up with you dog, some don't like it and some won't come because of it but for most tell me they appreciated it. Please help me get the word out so we have no mix ups with people that don't know. Thanks, see ya in the Spring.

PM me your address and I'll send you a box of tissues! I am looking at 18 hours of windshield time from the Black Hills to that lovely little Tennessee holler! But after the first six hours I am supposed to pick someone up in Minnesota to help with the driving, so I guess that's a cheat. I hope to make the whole push down in one long go.
You planning on working on a selfbow while you are down there? Great opportunity to have some of the world's best bowyers help you step by step with the process.

Thanks JW/Pat, see yall in couple of months. The hats came in and I think they look great. May have to have one myself. :)

John;
Thanks for the offer. It's not so much the distance, as it is the time to get to go.

I hear ya. It seems the older I get and the more I understand that time is a limited stock supply the more it seems others want to use up MY time for their ends.

I plan on attending the Classic this year and I have room for a passenger. I will be departing from the Black Hills and if anyone in the area wants to jump in, let me know. If you can pitch in on gas, well so much the better for me, but I am going anyway. Or, if you are on my route, I can pick you up along the way.
My tentative route will be I-90 from Rapid City to Sioux Falls, South to Kansas City on I-29, then onto I-70 to St Louis, then a couple different Interstates through Mt Vernon, Paducah, and on into Clarksville. Google Maps tells me this is my shortest drive time of just over 17 hours. My little Kia doesn't have a ton of room, so if you are gonna do this, pack light. Chances are we can find you someone's camp to bunk up with, saving you from having to pack for an expedition.
-
Will have chased gobs with one of Big Jim’s personal Mountain Monarchs until I have lost all my tail feathers. Will be more than ready for the Spring Classic.
-
Look forward to seeing you Scott as always. We had a good working Saturday, got the fire pile looking good and opened up some more tent camp area, lots to do but making some head way.

-
Great to hear from you Dave, it has been a while, hope you can make and look forward to catching up. I have been busy getting the trophies made up, don't seem like much till you have to do 42 of them, almost there and should be done this week. Time is flying by so I better get on it.
Pappy
-
The trophies are looking good, Pappy.
Time is slipping away. I'll be at Twin Oaks in about 45 days. :saywhat:
-
We came down for the first time last year after years of trying. Can't wait to get back this year!
-
The last little hurdle in my way just fell! Barring unforeseen circumstances, I will be making the roadtrip to the Classic.
And another reminder that I'll happily pick up anyone along my route that wants to ride along! (Travelling from the Black Hills, if you think you might be able to tag along send me a pm.)
-
dnovo, glad you enjoyed last year and hope we can show you as good of a time again this year, always love it when people come for the first time and can't wait to get back again. :) Glad to hear it's a go JW, looking forward to seeing you again. Had 5 loads of gravel come in yesterday, hope it's a dry year but you never know in Tennessee so we try our best to be ready, this will help for sure. :)

The last and final hurdle fell before him, prostrate in the dust and whimpering under his withering gaze! "TO THE CLASSIC!", cried the victor as he strode over his stricken foe!
I'll see ya'll there! This time I want everyone to wear nametags with your username from PA!

Great news JW, see ya in about a month. The buttons came in for the Classic and self bow challenge, they look good to me.

I like the multiple targets in each shooting scenario. We used to do shoot/no shoot scenarios. Some shots were set up, so they should probably not be taken. Two targets per 30 were No Shoot, if you passed the shot you got ten points, if you took the shot you scored negative 5 points. Also, some sets had two targets you chose one. The closer was fewer points. The other was a few yards farther, equally as good a shoot. It was interesting.
:campfire: :coffee: :archer2: :campfire:
-
Pappy has 2 steel targets in the set ups, one a full size deer with only the kill zone open and the other is a fox I think with only the kill zone open. Lots of broken arrows around both. :archer2:
-
Still on schedule to enjoy three days of Twin Oak's finest.
-
Does anyone have a list of bowyers or vendors who are planning on attending?
-
I know Mike Treadway, Big Jim, James Parker, a few selfbow builders and a few used bow dealers. There are probably others but they don't come to mind. :archer2:
-
I meant to put a list up but forgot, we have about 40 vendors lined up, you will be able to find anything you are looking for. Pappy
-
Just got back from my first time. Only could stay for a day but it was beyond my wildest expectations. Tremendous property with massive oaks and hickories and the best course I have ever seen. Will be there for the whole weekend next year.
