Title: Bingham longbow form
Post by: John johnston on January 27, 2024, 09:01:23 AM
Just received Bingham longbow plan and DVD. The DVD says to glue .02 tapped lamination  on the bottom form section ,then a Formica strip. My question is : what is the purpose for the tapperd  strip?
Thanks

I’m sure the thin ends of that go to bow center, and the taper in bow has thick end to center. The riser is straight on form side , this way the riser will fit the form with no gaps . Hope that made sense!

Keep in mind... You do not need to build this form exactly like the plan either... sometimes making a sweeping ach shape for the back of the riser portion of the form will give you a more pleasing shape to the bow.  When you got her done, just shape the riser to fit the form... there is a certain amount of that needed anyway on a one piece bow unless its dead flat and you are using no tapers.... food for thought...  Kirk
