Hey all, haven’t been able to find much online so thought I’d try to get a chat going about the setups folks have with their JT Traditional bows. Brace heights, nock heights, arrows etc. What’s working for you?
After looking for quite some time I bumped into a used storm, 56” bow and should have it in a few days.
Thanks!

I had one of the JT Traditions pass around bows a few years back. I just remember that it was allot lighter weight than I was used to at 47# and I think I shoot some 2018 or 2020's with it. The bow was snappy and I was impressed for such a light bow being as fast as it was.

That’s good to know, thanks. I’ve got some 2016’s, 400 and 500 spine carbons so I know I’ll be able to get an arrow tuned after some playing around. Was the one you tried fiberglass or carbon limbs?

Jt was a Sponsor for a few years and provided Hope and Faith for a pass around for the St Jude Auction. I took a couple of rabbits with it and my take on them is nothing but positive.
-
I remember the JT pass-around bows. Beautiful workmanship.
-
Echoing what Terry stated, good solid bow. I think the one we had was carbon limbs(?) I don't think you'll disappointed.

Thanks everybody. The “pass around bow” deal sounds really cool. I also have heard nothing but positive reviews on his bows. We are lucky to have so many great options in bowyers out there today. I’ve read in some forums that these can be somewhat sensitive to nock height and arrow spine but I should be able to get it figured out.

The pass around bows were 62 inch Apollo at 50lb with double carbon limbs...I liked it well enough that I ordered one...mine is 48 at 28 with carbon on the back only. 48 @ 28 and I draw 29 with 30 inch 500 with 200gn up front or 55/60 woodies with 125 up front...
Very nice bows...hope this helps

I had the pass around left hand and remember it being 58" 47#. Shot a turkey with it, great grip really good cast , shot fast for 47#. I shot 30 1/2 inch 400's out of it with 106 gr snuffer for hunting.

I have one of the Apollo 62”, carbon front and back. Mine has the take down bolt and I like it just fine. Mine is 49# at 28” and I’m shooting 500 gold tip skinny blems, my arrow is around 550gr. The brace ht set at 7.25” and it shoots fast and quiet.
What’s not to like? :goldtooth:

Great stuff everyone, thanks! I really like the looks of the grips on these bows, that’s what initially drew me to them. So I’m glad a lot of other folks have liked them as well. Really good info on the arrow and brace heigh setups too! This Storm is a 56” bow, and I’ve had several of the more popular hybrid longbows in that length so I’m really excited to see how it compares. An Apollo may be on my wish list in the near future depending on how it goes.

That was Hope from the Saint Jude's auction. I think it was around 50 pounds if I'm not mistaken. And I shot arrow dynamics tradlights with a 175 grain 4 blade Zwickey delta like nobody's business.
-
Good to know thanks. I’ve never heard of those arrows I’ll have to check them out.

What are the specs on your Storm?
-
Post your specs and I will get the bowyer's recommendation for you

This is my son's Storm! Forgot to mention I tuned 500 spine arrows with both bows 175gr and 200 gr heads. Ok ok I'm done :biglaugh:
-
That’s awesome! Looks like you’ve got the whole lineup! Haha The storm I just got is 56”, 41# at 27”. I’m getting 48# on my scale at my draw which is about 28 1/2”. It’s carbon backed and fiberglass belly. I’ll try to post a pic, she’s a beauty. I was actually looking for an Apollo based on what JT thought for what I was looking to do. I’m just a hunter, shoot 3 under and don’t always have the most perfect release. Working on that though!
-
I’m finding this storm likes 400 spine quite well compared to the 500’s I tried. I like to leave my arrows around 32” though if I can help it so that plays into the stiffer spine.
-
I like it.
-
Nice bow!

Thanks! So far finding 7 1/2 on brace height and around 1/2” to bottom of nock as being close.
