No comments Roy
I'm supposed to build a heat box and wanted to see if something other than bulbs would be better.
No interest in heat strips as it will be used pretty casually and not too often...
Thanks!

As long as you can still get incandescent bulbs it's a good way to go. Not too bad price wise. I would think for occasional use would be good. Three 200 Watters gets mine to 140 for 6 hours and no problems so far.
That's for smooth on. The other glue may need Togo hotter.

I use 100w or 200w incandescent bulbs in my heat box. I just read on PA about using heat lamps used for baby chickens from Tractor Supply works too.

2 sticks rubbed together

Pat, how about fill the box with baby chickens, should generate enough heat. :bigsmyl:

Max thats what Roy does, and he ain't too hot

Kenny Im using these. I know you said other than bulbs, but they are supposed to last a long time. Look for the best deal and reviews.

I also use the Inkbird controller and the combination has been flawless for the past six months.
-
That should work! Can you get up to temp and how many does it take? I like that they are lower profile than bulbs...
Edit,: maybe a little lower profile...
-
I have 4 bulbs and the inkbird is set to 150 Deg with a 4 deg variable so when the temp drops to 146 it cycles back on. The box is caulked and I have a bubble type foil stapled on all surfaces.
Gets up to temp in 60 deg shop in about 15-20 min and doesnt cycle often once it gets to temp- If you want I can text a pic just let me know

Sounds awesome !! Thank you !
If you get time shoot me a pic please..

Bue, chicken poop can get pretty hot. :dunno:

I use an old electric flanged tube heater placed on the bottom of heat box and since warm air raises there will be a slight air circulation. I fixed and old warm watertank thermostat to it. If you search for tube heaters you should find plenty, many have thermostats.

I built a light strip in my spray booth using these little halogen bulbs that put out a HUGE amount of heat. I’m quite certain these would easily heat up a hot box just using 6 75-100 halogen bulbs. I’ve got 7 of them in a strip that heats up my whole spray booth to 100 degrees….. you just need to be careful and mount them on a non flammable material. These little guys get seriously hot.
