I need to order a replacement string for a Fox Royal Crown 62", 40#. I know a fast flight is recommended, but not sure how many strands?
-
Personally I would make a 14 strand string, although I’m sure you could get by with less. Some strings have different diameters than others, so the strand count could vary. So I would specify 14 strands of D97, or the equivalent if a different type of string is used. You also need to specify nock size either by name if it is a common nock, or by sending them a sample of the nock you’re going to use.

Thank you

As McDave points out, strand diameter varies depending on the material. For my bows in the 45-50# range I go with 12 strands of D-97 padded to 16 in the loops. If you're having a string made for you, go with the maker's recommendation.

And if you don't have a stringmaker, Pierre at SBD (silent but deadly) bowstrings is a sponsor here and makes a good string. i've been getting mine from him for several years now and never had a problem.

SBD :notworthy: Huge fan, can't beat them, nicest I've ever used, worth every penny!

I actually talked to Ron King, the guy who built the bow and he is sending a string. He's a super nice guy to talk to

X2 on SBD strings. The best I've ever used.
