I finally got myself a knife grinder for my garage.
I've always used equipment at the Tool Room where I worked.
It got here today, in a crate that had to be off loaded with a fork truck.
Well I got one now but I'm gonna need two guys that have strong backs.

Which one did you get? I've been using my KMG for about 20 years. It comes in handy for more than just grinding knives,

"Worked"?
Did you retire, Dale?
Your knives are still the sharpest me and my son both own, bar none.

Yeah, I have a couple of my apprentices that worked with me that want to learn about making knives so I'm going to continue teaching how to make knives.

Good news, bad news, I got the grinder all assembled and bolted down on the heavy cart.
Bad news is, it blows the 15 Amp breaker and I checked all of them in the garage.
I'm thinking I might need a 20 Amp breaker.
Any electrician on here have an opinion about the breaker size?
2 HP single phase motor with a phase converter.

All of my 220 volt motors are plugged into 20 amp circuits. I’m not an electrician, but I had my garage wired by one when we moved in here.

I was thinking of getting a grinder like yours, but along came a wood lathe that I had been looking at with a really good price…. 🤔😁
Now I’m gathering together odds and ends to build one. A good friend gave me a motor to run it with. All I need now is a controller and time to get to work on it.
Dave.
Btw, that lathe has a 3 horse motor and is on a 30amp circuit. 20 would have been enough, but to get power to it, I disconnected an electric heater and that left me a space with a 30 amp breaker.

Well, I added a band saw to the garage today so I can make my Antler buttons at home now too.
