I’m excited to shoot this Robertson I picked up recently. Does anyone know how they do their serial numbers? Bows made prior to 2004 are not fast flight compatible. Thank you for any advice!
Best regards, Chase

Hi Chase,
My very first custom bow was a Robertson Mystical, 66”,60# Black Locust.
Dick Robertson made it for me in early to mid 1990’s. It was a beautiful bow as is yours. I don’t know how long after that he continued to make them. Hope that helps a little.

I think that bow was made before 1994 and it wasn’t a FF capable. FF became standard with the Vision line. IMHO

I believe the Mystical I have was made in the early to mid 1980's It was one of the few modern "D" shaped or Deflex-Reflex bows. At first he was using black locust, osage, and red elm laminations, under clear glass and shedua risers. Dan Bertalan talked with 29 different traditional bowyers before he published the first ed. of Traditional Bowyers of America in 1989. A second edition followed, as many bowyers faded away and new ones were building bows. I think Felix is correct, as Dick gradually started using bamboo core material and different riser wood when the Vision was introduced and then the Purist.

This is all very interesting. Thank you, gentlemen. I have some B-50 here that will make a nice string, and look good with this bow. Probably a 1991 bow, based on what you guys are saying. I appreciate the insight. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Mid 80s to early 90s. Great shooting bows. I had one from the mid 80s

At first I thought that was one of my old bows that I ordered in 1991 and long ago sold. Mine was 66" though and ordered way to stout for me at 60#'s @ 27". Much younger and stronger then and not the smartest move. Mine was rosewood riser and red elm limbs. A beautiful bow.

Thank you all for the perspective on this bow! Glad you like it Gary. It’s in amazing shape to be 30 years old. After 3 decades on earth I had a few more dents and scratches. A result of those not-so-intelligent years Larry is referencing. :smileystooges:
Enjoy your Sunday everyone, Chase

I have a LH 66" Vision, Cocobolo riser, bamboo cores and elm veneers with moose tips around 56# at my draw length. The bow in my avatar, really good shooting bow. I wouldn't mind trying a Purist if I found one.

So many great bows out there, I'm blessed to have been able to own a few classic ones. Seems that some of the best are no longer being made.
