So buying new broadheads for the trad bow and got it narrowed down to Simmons Safaris and crimson talon single bevel. Both are 200gr heads only thing I’m gonna have to do if I buy the crimson talons is re-fletch my arrows to right wing which isn’t end of the world as the CT’s are right bevels. Simmons are double so either way works. Sharpening both seems to have there own issues so that seems moot point. Simmons are a wider cut but CT’s are single bevel so might cause just as good of a wound channel. Just wanted some direction if there is a better one to take.

I couldn't care less about bevels.
Sharks are tuff heads and I would go with them way before any head that had a screw in the furrel.

What is the rationale for the screw?

I think it’s cheaper and faster to machine the parts and then join the ferrule and the ballade with the screw. Crimson talon makes good heads and they are plenty tough, but that safari still gets my vote as long as you have the horsepower. Better to cut a wider hole every time then maybe split a bone every once in a while in my opinion.

I think I’ve got enough HP. I’m shooting a satori with 45lb carbon foam limbs w/550gr arrow 250gr up front but might change that to 300gr up front 580 total weight. I’m hoping that’s enough nuts to shoot most broadheads. I know it’s not 50lbs but seem to be flying pretty great and I have no trouble drawing and holding for a few seconds so I don’t wanna increase poundage right now.

I have personally used both heads on hogs. The Crimson Talon Cleaver has yet to come to rest inside of a hog. 3 complete pass throughs and two were through the offside leg bone. The Cleaver also comes out of the pack sharper than most could possibly sharpen one. The Simmons Safari and Swampshark have also been great heads if you stay away from the bone on the off side. Not saying that I haven't had a pass through with Simmons just not when anything more than ribs were involved.

I've shoot several different heads through hogs, two blade and three blade. Magnus Mag, STOS, Ribteck, ACE, Snuffer, Grizzly Instinct, VPA, perhaps even a Zwickey Delta or two. Had one Magnus Mag break through the off side leg coming out and stop. Other than that everything was picked up off the ground. Hogs ranged from one who almost stepped on my with a Snuffer, to 45# young'uns. Even three spotted ones I got with my Shrew hawk.(lucky) The main point is get the broadheads sharp.
