I have a dream….a Simmons Shark with bleeders like old Magnus or Bear Razorheads, damn.
-
One can dream!
:campfire: :coffee: :archer2: :campfire:

I have never used a Simmons Shark....I was in camp one year and Ron had some, he didn't shoot anything though.
How are they to sharpen?
-
Roger, if you like to do things professionally, as I know you like it, it takes 20’ at perfection with the right stuff. If you are satisfied with the Rada only 3’. Lol

I have quite a few Treesharks as I used them for turkey. I didn't like the size of them....way too big for my way of thinking. I can't imagine trying to push that Kaiser blade in a four blade configuration through an animal. You would need to mount it on a huge spear and catapult it toward your prey:) All jokes aside a Treesharks with bleeders would be the ultimate for a fellow with the right equipment to handle that payload.
I use the Landsharks today for turkey. The Treeshark and the Landshark really sharpen well with the Simmons Steel Master. They are out of production (the sharpening kit) so you have to look hard to find one.

If your going to do something, go all the way!
4 blade great white. :bigsmyl:
-
The sad part is they used to make four blades but they don't any more.
-
But please make the bleeders removable. So we can sharpen three mains and bleeders properly. THAT would be the dream. A broadhead like this keeps me up at night.
-
The bleeder blades were removable, However I don't know why you need them to be removable to sharpen them as I sharpened my four blade Zwickeys with Ease.... The bleeders are so easy to sharpen, much more than the main blades. I'm not sure why you have to have them removable to sharpen them.

Yes....LaClair gave me a tiny file he got in an auto store....for filing points or something (I'm no mechanic). But it makes those Zwickey bleeders easy to sharpen.

I'd need something like that. Perhaps a chainsaw file would work.

A file designed for automotive points is much smaller than a chainsaw file. Thin, much closer to a finger nail file in size. Doesn't mean a depth gauge file won't work. Give it a try.

Drill one tiny hole at each end of the slot you want to create..take the head to a machine shop that does wire EDM and have them connect the dots..I would measure the thickness of a Bear bleeder and have the shop make the slot just the right width. A little fitting on the bleeder and I think you would have your cake..

The Bear Ad in the back of TBM read "the Razorhead is back". Really, looked different. Check their website.

I used to take the old slotted eclipse heads and insert bear bleeders. Made for a huge durable head i called “Eclair” 😂 but the eclipse got too pricey for my tastes. Slitting a ace would rock as well.

I have seen how easy it is to sharpen bleeder blades

Personally my problem isn’t the bleeders themselves because they do sharpen up easy, but the way they get in the way of the main blades. I can still get them sharp but not quite as sharp as a 2 blade.

Ah yes, that can be an issue.
