Title: Howard Hill Big Five
Post by: Even on June 11, 2024, 09:38:22 PM
A couple months back, I pulled the trigger on a used Howard Hill Big Five, a custom one 69.5 inches long, 70#@27 inches, straight limbs, mild locator grip.

Due to varying circumstances (slooowww shipping outa the States, customs, forest fire driving me from my house for a few weeks, travel, rain, etc) it took me quite a while to get around to shooting it.  I've wanted an Ekin HH bow for quite a while, so I have been vibrating to shoot it.

Today, I finally got the chance to put some arrows down-range.  I have to say... I like it a LOT.  I used some 30" 650 grain woodies that I refletched to 5" helical, and really haven't had a chance to do any real tuning with it at all, and it still shot really well.  If I do my part, it looks like it will slam arrows where I look, with some real authority.  I look forward to more arrow tuning.

No hand shock at all, that I notice.   I have it set up at 6.5" brace height, and my nock point is 3/8s over.

Anyone here have a similar bow, and have any tuning suggestions, regarding bow setup, and particularly arrows?

Have the same bow @65#. Set up numbers the same with POC and DF arrows...  Shoots great.   Enjoy it.

Awesome, Deno!  Thank you for the information.  I don't think I'm too far off on the arrows... have to do some more playing.
