Hello,
I own a Damon Howatt Hunter recurve AMO 58" at 42#. For any of you that own this bow length, what string length are you using and what brace height do you recommend? I could not find any information on this bow for brace height and max draw length. Thank you.

I'm thinking that at AMO 58" the bow is not a Hunter, perhaps Mamba. My Howatt Hunter liked 7 1/2" brace. Manufacturer recommended 7 1/4-8"

Hello,
It is a 58" Damon Howatt Hunter recurve. From what I found on line they made 62" and 58" Hunters in 1977. It looks like the 62" ones were more popular.

Excellent, not a Howatt expert, good to learn that. I would think the specs for the Mamba would work on a 58" Hunter, as well. I had a 1964 model.

I will give that 7 1/2" brace height a try and see what happens. Thank you very much for your advice!

Howatt recommends 7 1/4-8" for brace on 58" Mamba, very similar to brace for DHH 62"(7 1/2-8 1/4").

Hello,
On your 58" Mamba, how long is your string? Do you use endless loop or Flemish? D50 or D55 string? I was wondering if D55 would be OK to use on vintage bows from the 1960's and 70's. Thank you.

Should be fine, but I wouldn't use any low stretch fast flight.

If done right there. Should a picture of Martin’s catalog (on-line) of the specs you’re looking for.s
