Title: Sanding clear fiberglass
Post by: VTer on August 07, 2024, 11:02:16 AM
So I just glued up my 2nd bow and used clear fiberglass. Do you sand out sanding scratches just like if it was wood? All the grits up to 320? TIA

I do. I go up to 400 grit.

I never sand past 220. The finish needs tooth also. I have at times sanded the belly glass with 80 grit and a flat block for weight reduction then back to 220 for finish.

I go to 220 but never use a high gloss finish

2X  Stic's post... 80-120 for fine tuning, then go to 180- 220. Actually just 180 is fine to squirt finish over too.    Kirk

I never sand past 180 grit.. not necessary if shooting clear finish and it has better grip.
