Just received this pic last night.  Pretty cool huh!  Was taken by a trail camera about 5 miles down the valley from my house.

They're protected here in Iowa since back in the 80's.  Any deer over 50% white we can't shoot.

I think if it's got much white at all you just play it safe and give it a pass.

In Seneca NY, there is a whitetail deer herd that was basically "quarantined" to the Seneca Army Depot.  They are not albino, just leucistic, lacking any pigment in their coats.  About 50% of the 700 deer in the herd are white.  While the Depot has been closed for many years, the fence is still up.

That could be recipe for disaster. Similar situation at place I use to work. The inbreeding created large antlers but very small bodied deer.
Not sure what happened to the herd.

Not sure how tall the fence is, but deer do get out, and I'm sure deer get in also.

Pretty cool picture.  We have laws protecting piebald deer. I think an albino is legal. Personally I would let it walk and admire it.

I remember as a kid back in the 50s hearing adults talking about albino deer and saying it was bad luck to shoot one. I always thought a deer is a deer no Matt what color they are. :-)

Some states restrict true albinos but other states have no restrictions.
Lots of albino squirrels in Ohio and taxidermist mount them within laws.
