Am looking quite forward to the arrival of a new TimberGhost TGX…anticipating delivery very soon.
Formulated a tentative setup for the fall 2024 last year. Hope to be posting my final setup by September 7th.
Please share your bow and arrow specs?

It looks like my 2024 Deer Hunting Setup this year will be:
Bow: Factory camo 1972 Bear Super Kodiak (55#@28").
Arrows: 2016 Aluminum Arrows, or 55#/60# spine Cedar Arrows.
Broadheads: Bear Razorheads (greenies), or Eclipes.

For Local Whitetails, I'll be sticking with my tried and true:
54" Black Widow KB, 53lbs @28", Draw Length ~27.75"
29" Easton Axis 5mm Full Metal Jacket, Black Widow Wraps, 3 - 5" Shield Cut Feathers, Aluminum Footed, Standard Hidden Inserts
VPA 3 Blade, 250 Grain 1-1/4"Cutting Diameter Broadheads
615 Grain Total Arrow Weight
When I travel more significantly, I swap the Bow with my 56" Black Widow PCH, 53lbs @28" OR 58lbs @28" & 650 Grain Arrows pending game pursued... :campfire:

I'll switch it up a few times through the season probably, but my main whitetail bow will be my Great Northern Ghost, 62 inches and 60 pounds at my draw. I'll be shooting GT trad 400s with a 200 grain 3 blade VPA for TAW of 525 grains.
My other bow that I'll be taking west is my Blacktail Elite VL, 66 inches and also 60 pounds at my draw length. That bow will be shooting GT trad 340's with the same 200 grain 3 blade VPA for a TAW of 575 grains.

New this summer, custom stock Centaur bow. I caught Jim at the perfect time, he was building a couple stock bows, so I was able to grab this one and have the grip custom made for me. It’s a 58” bow 47# at 28”. I added a Great Northern quiver, it loves 2016s with 145 grains up front. I will be shooting 150 grain Snuffers for broadheads, I’m not seeing any difference in performance between practice tips & broadheads. Looking forward to October 1st here in Michigan!!!

I have always enjoyed this thread every year!!! One of my favorites!!
Unfortunately, I'm sitting it out this year. The first time I haven't bowhunted in over 20 years...
My hand issues have gotten much worse, and because I have been neglecting my right hand, I seem to have lost much of the strength in my right arm. I can't even draw back my 40# bows.
I will continue to watch my TradGang family, and wish you all, the best of luck!!!! :archer:

My new to me 62" Centaur 'glass longbow that is 40# at my draw length. 28" Big Jim Dark Timbers, 4" rw 3 fletch with the standard insert and a 250 grain VPA 1 1/8" 3 blade. Arrows will be in a Great Northern strap on quiver. Wanting to try the Simmons Great White heads, but this close to season I am going to leave things alone for right now.

I’d planned to start out w my 52lb Whip. I bought a 44lb Whip for 3D. Bow is awesome, penetrating well, crazy accurate, got some trad only shafts, they tuned long but I can’t say I hate that. I’ve been using Magnus stingers on em but I’ve messed with swamp sharks on a couple of bows and like what I’m seeing with them, I’ve never used em but I’d like to see what happens. So,, nothing is set yet except the light bow is def coming some. I’m usually wood arrow crazy but thinking not too much early this year.
-
I’m starting off the season with a Kim Sha Mattawoman II and Surewood shafts tipped with Simmons Tiger Sharks. Windy and cold yesterday for the opener in western NC.
-
Bow....Hoyt Satori--64#@28"
Arrow....Easton 5MM Axis 340 spine with 50 grain brass HIT insert and 125 grain G5 Deadmeat's

Two Kanati lb. 56”. Both #40@26. GT trad arrows 560 gr. One bow 2 blade 150 gr stingers the other bow 2 blade 150gr killer bee.
-
47# Palmer 58" recurve shooting Heritage 150's with Palmer 4 blade extreme cut broadheads or 3 blade Razorcaps. I'll also be hunting with a 50# Rocky mountain recurve shooting the same arrows. For my Florida hog hunt I'll just switch out the broadheads for Simmon swamp or land shark broadheads.
-
74 years is wearing me down. I'll be shooting a Black Hunter longbow at 35lbs. 28in draw Beaman 600s cut 30 inches, 50 gr brass insert 175gr Swamp Sharks . First round of 4 arrows, 3 of 4 will hit a golf ball, after that it goes bad fast. I'll just have to pick my shot and hope for the best. I have boys and grandsons to help after the shot. I'm blessed!

Heck yea Snuffer don't quit. Put them young bucks to work

Second year with my Firefly Messenger 56" 47#@ 28" longbow. Easton Axis Trad shafts 600 spine with 175 gr. German Jager broadheads up front. Total arrow weight of 470 grs. Wisconsin's bow season opens on Sat. September 14.
-
52lb A&H ACS CX
Easton 2016 w/ 145gr zwickey eskilite screw in
-
That is the problem with having more than one good bow. I now have four in contention.
Probably my Tall Tines 58” recurve with 2016 or 55/60 Surewoods. Just because I have not had enough time with the other bows yet. But I would like to use my St Patrick Lake Mushin Stick also.i have a quiver coming for it so I’ll try it also.
-
this year it's going to be a BB warf with medium Nika N3 limbs for a 64" bow that's 38# at my 30" draw. 2016's with 150 gr Woodsman heads. 525 gr total arrow weight. Not as pretty as a custom but it does shoot good.
-
Howard Hill Legend Stick
Home made cedars with Ace standards and Wensel woodsman’s
Leather side stalker quiver at times and an alpha tube style quiver and back quiver depending on situation.
Back up will be HH cheetah

Going with the 60" double carbon Omega Native for the fall, 45# @ 28" but drawing to 29. CX Maxima Hunter 250s with 100 grain brass insert and 150 Magnus Stingers; 510 grains total. Will be getting to hunt my first NY archery season since 2021 after being out of state for 2 years; took a doe with this bow that year.

I'll probably go with the Toelke Chinook again as I just got it last year. Its 60" 48@28 will be using Day6 HD arrows with Simmon Tiger Sharks again.

Nice Gobbler JJ. Almost bought a Native a few years ago. I don't think he makes that model anymore.
-
I'll be using my same setup that I've used since I started shooting a recurve. Black Widow PCH V 56" 52@28
I'm shooting doug fir shafts, 5" shield cut turkey feathers from birds we killed, and ACE standard broadheads. I've had really good results with this setup so far. I don't remember the total arrow weight, but I think it was somewhere around 520.

Thanks. No, this model is no longer made, the form warped and became unusable. This was one of the last ones made, it was a slightly longer prototype made for a show that got canceled by Covid and I got lucky.
Kegan does have a new short R/D model out now, called the Dart, a little shorter at 56". Will be my next bow purchase.

My Wild Horse Creek Destiny 62" 50# with cedars I finished and green Bear RazorHeads.
