This is my first year back to deer hunting after way too long. I’ve continued to shoot my bows, but do to many unfortunate circumstances such as work, lost hunting properties, amongst other things my hunting has suffered. I’ve dabbled in it when I could over the years but nothing serious. I’ve been able to put some much needed time in this year. No success yet, but really been enjoying being back in the woods chasing whitetail. I’ve missed the traditional crowd, their ethics, moral compass, respect for the animals they pursue and the right reasons for being in the woods. Sad what the hunting world has turned deer hunting into!
Hope everyone is well and enjoying the blessings the good Lord has given us.

Welcome back brother! I’ve been in a similar situation for the last several years and share your sentiments on what the way hunting has changed. The main reason I switched to trad gear years ago and haven’t looked back.

At 52, feels like I’m starting over! It’s been a real learning curve on the property I’ve been hunting. It’s a pretty sizable area ( big timber ) so I’ve been kind of hunting / on x scouting. Finding spots and setting up on em. All my hunts so far have been from the ground. Hopefully next year I’ll have something nailed down a little better than I do now. I’m not disappointed, seen several, had a close call with a decent buck just never gave me a good opportunity for a shot. Thanks for the replies, feels good to be back in the woods!

Welcome back Jason; loss of hunting grounds can really put a damper on your enthusiasm. None of us like starting all over, but at least we are still at it. Good luck.
