Title: Three States in 10 Days
Post by: Basinboy on December 09, 2024, 09:16:30 AM: I went on a mission chasing whitetail on public ground in three states. Tennessee, Illinois and Kentucky. Had a great trip! Temps were very cold for this southerner. Some days it never got above freezing! Was blessed to take two bucks and a huge doe. My first deer shot in the snow! Was a cool experience.

What a cool idea. I'm retiring in January and plan to do a lot more hunting and fishing. And having the time to hunt in other states is at the top of my list.

Arizona in the winter for javelina and Coues deer sounds pretty good this time of year ... :campfire:

The two bucks in Tn, the doe in Illinois. Saw lots of deer in Kentucky but didn’t get a shot. Was a great trip! :notworthy:

I had never hunted those places before. I cyber scout them hard before I go. Make places that I think should pinch deer down. Hit the woods running when I get there. When I find hot sign I setup. If I don’t see anything in two sits I’m gone. Midday I’m scouting prospective spots for the next two dots which are almost always evening/morning hunts. I don’t like going in blind in the dark and setting up.
