Title: vessel and utensil carving
Post by: hickstick on December 18, 2024, 09:22:35 AM
I guess you would classify this as a 'sister' topic to woodsmanship. the ability to 'make do' out in the bush when a cutting board/spatula/stirrer/spoon is needed over the campfire, not only makes camp more comfortable, its fun.  I sorta turned this into a side gig.  I carve Kuksa (cup) and spoons all by hand, with 'sloyd' knives and spoon or 'hook' knives.

Nice work!   I've done a bit of spoon carving and bowl carving as well.  Have the requisite tools.  Wish I had a heated work space for winter carving.

thanks.  I thought about cutting up some cherry and maple yesterday but it was a 'real feel' of around 5 degrees yesterday sp I decided to stay inside.  lol
