Quick question for the string makers. I normally use BCY 97 but decided to try BCY 8125. I made the string with 16 strands of the BCY 8125 and looking around on the web after I see that it is suggested to use 18 strands. I pull 56lbs with this bow, is 16 good or should I make another one with 18?
Thanks for the help.

I am not a string maker. But, I believe BCY has the info you need on their website

16 strands is plenty safe for 56# draw weight. The important thing is to get the right combo of strands and serving size to fit standard nock sizes without having to adjust them.

I've always made my own strings, using BCY8190F 14 strands. My bow is a 45 pound WHIP TOELKE. 8125 is a string for compound bows, but it can also be used in traditional archery. As a rule, 8125 can withstand heavier pounds.

8125 has a tensile strength of over 100# per strand… so your looking at 1600# with a 16 strand string…. I’d say your safe…
