Title: Osage veneers
Post by: Maclean on January 24, 2025, 03:51:27 PM
For those of you that have ordered a new bow with Osage veneers, how long did it take for the Osage to darken, roughly?

Depends on how much light/UV the veneers receives and your definition of darkening.

Put the bow in a window (unstrung) and it will darken faster.

Not very long.  If you are concerned that the bright yellow you see now will linger and be a beacon in the woods, by next Fall it will not be.  Cut Osage oxidizes pretty quick.  My main bow is one I built out of Osage veneers that I cut and sanded to thickness.  It faded sufficiently by the time  I took it hunting a month later.  Now it is very pretty 14 years later.
