Title: Bamboo backed ipe 65# at 27”
Post by: Mo_coon-catcher on January 24, 2025, 07:15:09 PM
Here’s a bamboo backed Ipe English longbow style bow I just got finished up. It pulls 65# at 27”. The tips are white cow horn and in the right light are translucent and you can see the wood core. It’s 65” between the nocks, 0.9” wide and 0.8” thick at the handle and goes down to 3/8” in front of the horn. I havnt chronographed it yet but it throws a 700gr arrow pretty solid. I’m guessing around 160fps area and is plenty smooth. The finish is just Boiled linseed oil, so far about 8 coats rubbed in over the last week.

Thanks for looking

Kyle

Nice boo backed longbow, Kyle with a nice dark color ipe. That's a great combo.

Thanks guys! My first time messing with this combo and I really like it. Especially how much you can get out of so little material. I just chronographed it and averaged just under 160fps with a 70gr arrow. several shots over 160 but most shots over about 2 dozen were 158-160fps.

Wow!  with a 70 grain arrow you should be closer to 300 FPS with that baby... :biglaugh: You obviously meant 700 grains.

I sure love the stitching on your grip there. And those tips are gorgeous!  You can send me one of those at about a 45# draw weight no problem.    Kirk
