Title: Browning Cobra II recurve 58 inch amo (Good info!)
Post by: exarcherman on February 01, 2025, 02:35:36 PM
Lots of conflicting info on this bow posted,, Here is some good useful info it took quite a bit of testing ect. to come up with..My bow is Browning Cobra II 58 inch amo 45# draw weight..

String length of 55.5 inches will give brace height of 8.5 inches. If you want to try lower brace height,, get a 56 inch string, & you can twist it to shorten.... If you go with 4 inch shorter string as most suggestions i have read , the brace height will be close to 9.5 inches which is too high. (The 4 inch shorter suggestions assume the string will stretch at least an inch, as with B50, which won't happen with d97 most are using today)   Mine shoots great with 55.5 inch length string & brace height of 8.5 inches...

now my question,, Anyone Know how to date one of these??  The serial number 2N225-2..  This is probably my favorite vintage bow of the 7 various models i own..I read Harry Drake designed it,, it is smooth drawing, quiet & plenty speedy for me. & easy to shoot well. I'm pretty sure it is from the 70's..

Thanks! [ You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I think they started making the Cobra 2 in 1970. Its probably from the early 70's. I had a Safari 2 that was probably made around that time. It was my first hunting bow.
