Title: Centaur Supercurve
Post by: WVU on February 24, 2025, 12:07:34 PM
What’s the best way about getting hands on a centaur supercurve, Tall tines, or shafer silvertip?

Looking for a new bow would like to be able to put hands on them first before spending the $$$

Located on the east coast (WV)

Go to a shoot or two and see who has one you can take a look at.  :campfire:

That is a good question to ask the bowyer/owner.  They may have a program to try one out, buy it or order a different one. Shipping is expensive, and they aren't going to eat the cost.

One I reached out to said to take to the Internet and try to find someone who would let me handle it.

One offered to send me one to try. Expense would (and should) be covered by the person wanting to try the product.

One gave no response

I’m planning on trying to get to some upcoming events to see and handle some different brands but just wanted to see if there were other potential avenues out there.

Contact the event sponsors for a list of those displaying at their event, in advance, then contact the mfgr to see what they plan to take to the event and if you can try and/or buy then. There are a number of events in the east and mid-west.  :archer2: :notworthy: :goldtooth: :campfire:

OK, question, are there significant differences between different makes of super curves?

I have only had Border super curves and I had a Centaur 58 incher.

Border made many versions of their super curve limbs. They kept changing them as they got more radical every time.

I think the Centaur limb is narrower and the radius looks different than most any Border I have seen.Maybe more like a border HEX 6, HEX 6.5,Hex 7.But certainly not a duplicate of any Border Super curve limb.

Yes, there are differences in all 3 that you spoke of, and differences in Super Curves also.

I am a Longbow guy but I got to handle two difference ones at the LTR this year one was Mr. Terry Greens Centaur Super curve the other one was MC Dave Bob Lee Cobra. Wow both were awesome limb stability was unbelievable, I mean I don't think you can twist a limb. I like the Centaur the best because the arrow shelf.

Terry's recommendation is spot-on.
I have wasted a lot of time and money on buying bows that I had not shot, only to find out I didn't like them as much as others.  Even with ILF limbs.
We all understand that this isn't always possible but try to do so.  That is why you see so many nice bows for sale.
