:archer: I turn 80 in 3 weeks so I was reminiscing over coffee this morning, introduce to archery at age 11 at boy scout camp. have some great memories, one that comes to mind is one saturday was shooting at the local pro shop and ken beck who had recently bought black widow bows came carrying a wooden bow and I had the pleasure of shooting the proto type of the ma take downs. and have since owned several. sorry for being so long winded. so have decided for a birthday treat I am getting a new ASl longbow and do do my best to take a whitetail with it this fall

Jim, welcome to the octogenarian ranks. I beat you by a year. :goldtooth: I started down this path of archery about the same time you did. My first "real" bow was an Indian Archery lemonwood longbow. I thought I was really something. A new bow is a mighty fine birthday treat. Best of success with it on the deer population.

Well happy birthday and I wish you the best of luck with your new bow. I am a few months behind you turning 80, August for me. Another new bow isn’t out of the question but hunting is a big question mark. Back and heart issues these past 5 years are taking their toll on my ability to roam the hills. Good luck

Happy Birthday.
I'm a sprightly 65 and I was introduced to archery by an aunt who shot target archery in college (Syracuse U.) pre-Boy Scouts. She graduated with a Baccalaureate in Science when not many women were doing it. I used a light draw fiberglass bow (Indian, Pearson or Shakesphere?) And, like everything in my world at that time, an older cousin, older brother, and slightly older cousin had used it before me. Bows, clothes, Mad Magazines. It didn't matter. I also did some single pin target archery in college with a 36# Damon/Howatt Monteray. My style is still more closed and upright than, say, dear departed Fred Abell, who looked like he was passing a kidney stone when shooting. :archer:
By no strange coincidence my wife, of 45 years, reminds me a great deal of my Aunt Lois.
