Been thinking of a pair for hunting boots. Anyone use them? Tell me what you like (or don't).

I have a pair and wear them for stand hunting. Very warm and comfortable. I also use them for snowshowing. I have use this pair for 7 years and am pleased with them.

I have a pair too. I wore them on the gun opener 4 years ago when the temp did not get above zero for 2 days.
They are great unless you get into wet snow. They aren't waterproof like Sorels. The extra wool footbed is a nice addition.

Same question again, canvas or hide model? I'm curious of the hides are suitable beyone "dress" use.

I have the Double Artic's they exstreamly warm and comfortable. I would get them for hunting you can treat the canvas to get it water roof. The all hide ones are not going to be any more water proof. They just cost more. I have used them in MN. late season hunting and standing around for 8 hours watching my son at cross-country ski meets. I have never regreted getting them.

Am using the Moose hide ones. We don't have a problem with "wet" snow when out an about. If you are going to wear thick wool socks (such as the Filson's heavy weights) you need to consider ordering at least one size larger than normal and probably two sizes larger will fit even better.

A good quality product, but not for wet conditions. The ability to add or remove insulation along with the flexibility of the soles is the key to their warmth. They are a pain in the butt if you are using them daily in that you will need to dry them out every night. I have used them extensively and I no longer use them for extended expeditions due to the maintainance factor. They are good however for short term and occasional use. I like them for hunting because you can feel what you are stepping on and they are significantly lighter than the Sorel option. Don't wear them in town as road salt and gas will eat the soles (Natural rubber) in a heartbeat. I like the canvas uppers because they won't soak up as much moisture and are lighter than leather. Either option requires the use of silcone waterproofing at regular intervals to give you any sense of waterrepelancy. It is liberating feeling to have such light footwear in cold conditions, and you will like them if you wear them in truly cold conditions. They are also high fashion if you are into that. Although we do not get the extreme cold here in Northeast PA, I wear them when necessary. Picked up my first pair 10 years ago while fishing and camping in the Boundary waters. They are great for late season stalks as they are light & soles so flexable. Spending all day in a tree stand and you will appreciate them more. I have the Canvas tops for the same reasons everyone else posted.
Hopefully we will get enough snow this year so I can use them and the snowshoes.
