are they really a weak link? please share any info good or bad.

Are they weaker than steel ? Yes (unless you get a batch like Ashby showed earlier).
Are they strong enough to do what needs to be done ? Most times, yes. They have been used for years and years, and years.
Technically, they are one of the weaker areas of the arrow system, however, take that into context.. every single part has a weakness that can be exploited.
I say...Use them if that's what makes your arrow fly real pretty.

Stripstrike and I were just having this conversation. We would both like to use steel only, but sometimes it's difficult to get a set up that's not too heavy (for our lighter bows)when you switch to steel. I've never had a aluminum adapter fail but I do see how it would be the weak link in the chain.

I have only shot one, yes only one, broadhead with an aluminum adapter a 160 Grizzly El Grande. That broadhead is still in the center of a target and all I got was a busted MFX Beman Classic. Won't get me to try that again.

I've snapped 3 on whitetails, they are not worth the risk IMO.
1 screw in snapped, so I changed brands, the next screw in snapped, so I went to a glue in, I snapped one of them to. They all broke at the shoulder where the head and shaft met. I went to steel, never had a problem in the 6 years I've used steel.
Someone could probably say I got a few bad batches of adapters, but I'd rather have a bad batch of steel vs. aluminum if that was the case.
Weak link.

The Magnus adapters we carry are 7075 aluminum and about as good as your going to find in an aluminum adapter. I use them on some of my set ups without reservation. Are they stronger than steel? Absolutely not. Are they strong enough? I think so.
Most aluminum adapters floating around out there are not the Magnus and are made from pathetic grades of aluminum which are very soft. I have bent some of those but I've yet to bend a Magnus, although I'm sure someday I will. On the occasions I've bent the other adapters I had hit something really hard and the arrow was already stopped anyway.
That's been my experience with them, I'm sure the others above are valid as well. Lots of variables when you start launching arrows at stuff.

I'm with Morning Star on this and a strong believer in steel.
I've also had 3 aluminum adapters break on hogs and will not use them.

there are several diffrent aluminum adapters, short, long, hollow and solid, I have found that sticking to the long solid adapters I have had great results. I had bent a few of the hollow ones in the past.
