Better get in as the 2009 spots are going fast. There's Deer, Buff, Scrub bulls, Brumbie, Camel, Goats, Pigs, Foxes, Rabbits, Hares, cats just to name some off the top of my head.

Exchange rate for the Aust$ to US$ is about the same at the moment so not so good for your trip here, But if you went to NZ you could afford fly everywhere in your private helicopter. LOL, just joking Jeff its not that bad yet.

You cannot hunt roo's with bows Jeff. You have to have a roo shooters lic and they can only be shoot at night using a spot light and it must be head shot only.

Ian, Australia has pigs, goats, Axis Deer (Chital), Fallow Deer, Red deer, Camels, Donkeys, Horses, Scrub Bulls, Water Buffalo, and dingoes that can be hunted and I am sure I missed something!  You can get a lot of info here on TG and there are several people that live in on here thatm will answer questions.  I spent 3 weeks in Australia in 2006 and it was wonderful!  Probably the friendliest place I have been in my world travels.  It is also a lot less exspensive than Africa.  Joseph

tell me what the hunting is like in the Basalt region

Ian, that is where I was and it is really neat!  You have big Basalt flows that form pockets that are usually wet and the pigs hang out in them and the deer use the Basalt to travel and bed and feed in the pockets. It is also real hard on boots.  Joseph

You can buy the DVDs "Bowhunting the Basalt" 1 and 2 from Grahame Cash, the editor of our Bowhunting Downunder Magazine at  https://www.bowhuntingdownunder.com/index.php?page=shop.browse&category_id=11&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1  . There are traditional bows as well as the more common compound bows in action on the boars and chital. Number 2 includes Don Thomas taking a great chital stag, as well as his wife with a boar she arrowed.

There are some very good operaters that are based in queensland , like Mick Baker and Pat Macnamarra. There is a one outfit that will taylor a package to your preferences anywhere in australia and he covers most of the freerange game species. His name is Adam Greentree and he is well known through his articles in the Bowhunting Downunder mag.'If you get over to western australia we will take you goat hunting in the gascoyne area.
