Title: Help tuning longbow
Post by: BrianO on August 08, 2008, 10:02:00 PM
I have a 60" snoeshoe longbow.  It draws 57 @ 28.  The riser is not cut past center and I have never tried to tune anything other than a recurve. This bow has a pretty pronounced reflex/deflex.I currently dont have very many arrows to choose from and was wandering were to start.  I have 29" douglas fir with 125 grains on the end spined for 60-65, and I have 30" gold tip trads 55/75 with 250 up front.  I am building a house and dont have much time to experiment and was wandering where to start using either carbon or wood?
Thanks for the help.

Carbon I say.  Longbows like a nock point 5/8th to 3/4" above 90 degrees I found.  Just my .01 cent

Don't know much about carbons, but the doug firs should work for you just as they are.

Need a little more info.....FF or Dacron string? What is your draw length? As far as nock point, start at 3/8" and head up (to 5/8")from there usually works for me.

I shoot my longbow at 3/8 above center, it seems to work great. I am shooting tapered hickory shafts.

55/75's your nocking point is going to be determined by the way you grip the bow...
