Title: Adhesive for shelf material
Post by: Ron B on August 28, 2008, 08:14:00 PM
I have a nice Massie Longhorn. The shelf material is coming off and I tried to glue it back down using "Barge" cement. Seems like the Barge is not adhering to the high gloss finish. I would appreciate sugestions of what adhesive to use on a high gloss finish.

Thanks

Did you put the Barge Cement on both the material, and the shelf, letting it almost dry, then put them together?

You can also use double sided tape.   Also heard ShoeGoo works.

But seriously, Barge Cement is excellent.

Good luck.

I've found that if i clean it with isopropyl alcohol, from the first aid area at wally world, let it dry and then use shoe-goo to apply the new rest it works great. Havent had a problem yet

Idid not let it almost dry then try putting it together, I will try that. I cleaned the area well but did not use alcohol I will do that also. I have always used Barge without any problem, For some reason I'm having trouble on this one. I'll try these things and let you know what happens. If these don't work I'm open to other ideas also.

Thanks

I clean shelf real good and use Fletch-tite Platinum.  Never any issues. I just apply and work the material where I want with some pressure and then let cure/dry. Good to go.
