Title: Finished my Ghillie suit....Now what??

Well I finally finished my first ghillie suit!  It took me alot longer than I thought it would but I think it turned out great.  I made it out of burlap tied onto a volleyball net.  Now the question is, how do I wash it.  I know that it is going to be extremely hot and I will be sweating alot so what is the best way to get the smell out while not ruining the DAYS/WEEKS of pulling little strands of burlap.  Thank you for your help!

Also if someone lets me know how to get a picture on here I would be more than happy to post some.  Thanks!

The "smell" is gonna last a good while; atleast mine from the corp did. You could just let it sit out side and weather to help with the oder. Or maybe wash it outside with scent killin soap?

I've heard that some guys bury their ghillie suit for an extended period of time. I haven't tried it with mine but it sounds interesting.

I saw a program on the military channel the other day. It was about the US Army Sniper school at Ft. Benning. They had those guys wear theirs for a couple of days solid and made them roll around on the ground everywhere they went. Wading through swamps, crawling through the brush, and belly slithering in the woods.

Theirs looked real good after 48 hours or so.

I just stuff mine in a pillow case and throw it in the washing machine several times with no-smell'um hunting soap.

I would recomend putting it in a ziploc "BIG ZIPLOC" bag or a tote I generally put in vegation & dirt from a hunting area I am hunting to let it absorb (sp) I will do this several times. Movement will bust U before the sent though!

How about some photos?  Would like to see what the finished product looks like.  Have always wanted to try one.

I wash mine in the tub with scent away soap. I hang it to dry outside... I then spray it down inside and outside with scent killer.

I find a cardboard box with some soil, leaves, and pine boughs works best as I got a musty (mold like...) aroma when using a ziplock bag...

I roll mine up and strap it to my pack with my torges tree seat... get to where I am going to hunt and spray down with scent killer after I set up... then I turn on the thermacell and string and arrow and settle in...  But beware them nerves tend to get a lil more rattled close up at eye level...
