Well, I am a new guy to this forum, a new deciple to archery and an even newer convert to the traditional arena. So new to traditional archery that, except for a few basic facts, and a lot of practice with an old Cavotta Black Hawk, it's clear that I don't know much. So I am on the prowl for Trad knowledge with the hope of vectoring in on a longbow. I have a line on a local builder in Chester Co., PA and will call soon him and see what I can see. In the mean time though, can someone point me to any reading or information on longbow basics like: power, components, termanology, and such. I have hunted with rifles and revolvers for over 40 years. But was introduced to the world of archery last Spring and it's the best thing that has happend to me since my wife got her inheratance, a job in Washington, DC and left me and the kids. I sometimes feel guilty about having all this fun.

Might try the Shooters Forum and give the Search engine a try and see what pops up. Lots of information already shared and to be shared. Welcome and remember, our forefathers did it and so can you/we!
I like that last two lines! :biglaugh: :biglaugh:

Welcome to the club. A lot of great info available. A virtual Library full of information in the forums and always someone standing by to help out. I use the search engine daily to resolve problems. Questions and answers from volumes of previously asked questions. This is an encyclpedia of traditional archery how to.
( And sometimes, How not to!!! )

Welcome to the gang. I'm on the same quest. Been here about month. Even though I've got a "heavy" background in compound this place has helped me immensely. It's second-to-none.
Beginner's hints I wish I had known:
The "search" button. It's a little hard to find. It's at the top in the middle under the sponsors' ad. WHEN you use, not if lol, type your search quarry and then choose which forum you want it to search. My browser and tradgang.com do not get along well if I let is search all the forums.
The Highlight forums towards the bottom. Wish I had skimmed through those earlier. As well as the Topic Archives a little below them.
And some archery-in-general advice. Be careful, it's nothing less than a highly legal highly addictive drug...and don't ever buy into "fads" or gimmicks whether it's in the compound or traditional circles. Do your thing your way based on your own preferences and what you have confidence in. (Having said that, the guys here won't ever purposefully try to steer you wrong. They/we have a slightly higher immunity to fads.)
