Come on guys. Have not seen you on here in awhile. How's the season going in Iowa so far? Let us hear it!
-
TTT
I'd like to hear too.
-
We got behind in moving and/or hanging some stands. Barry went to Idaho and I went to Florida. Actually we just turned ourselves loose on the whitetails a week or so ago. Its been a slow start. We had lots of rain, mud, heavy fog, bad moon, high winds, warm temps, etc. Not much moving well. Many crops still standing. Akerns are thinning out and deer are eating a lot of freshly blown off green leaves that they dearly love about now. Minimal frost so far. Less color in the woods without frosts. Things should pick up considerably within a week. We are getting some great trail camera pix. Stay tuned.
-
Hi gene would like to know if another primal dreams dvd is in the works, the best DVD expressing the hunters true veiws on nature and the aspects of the hunt
-
Thanks Gene. Make sure you guys post a pic when you get the big one your after.
-
As Gene mentioned above, we've been gone a lot. In fact, I tried answering this post last night. When I sent it my computer said I'd already gone over the limit in a 24 hr. period or something. I tried getting around it and everything crashed. Seems okay now. I'm a little embarrassed letting you guys know how much I hunt. Looking at my notes, since Oct. 1st. I've bowhunted three counties in Iowa and spent 83 hours already in a treestand. I've seen a total of 63 bucks, 252 does and another 37 I was unsure of. I've seeen a couple nice bucks but no monsters yet. Nothing I'd consider shooting. We had a front move in last night with predicted heavy rains and winds over the next couple days. That'll open up the canopy and increase visability a lot in the next week. The rutting "waters" are just starting to bubble/boil. Be patient. Two weeks from now we'll all have smiles on our faces. Best of luck to all. BW
-
Oh.. forgot Huntingwolf (above). Yes. Gene and I and all three of the Mitten brothers are packing cameras. We've already taped enough great footage since Primal Dreams to bring out another DVD, but decided to film this season for even more options to work with. Not to tease you guys but we already have some absolutely outstanding footage accumulated. We're really excited about it. We'll hopefully start editing this spring. If you guys have any opinions on what you'd like to see changed we'd gladly take your thoughts into consideration. Thanks to all. BW
-
Ok then Keosaugua it will be in what was it two weeks? Ok, I will be there!
Actually I WILL be there in 10 days! (My buddy has many hundreds of acres on BOTH side of the IA/MO border!)
-
When I grow up I want a job like Gene and Barry have. exactly what is it they do???..PR
-
They're retired, so they hunt!
Bill
-
besides kill big deer, i hear Gene is the PR manager for barack hussein obama and Barry pens a monthy column for the oprha whinfrey book club called "random acts of kindness"...just hear say though. seriously, these dudes are my heros and i dont kiss anybodys a$$. i grew up watching october whitetails...daily
-
On the note pete was speaking can a netflix member please go to the reviews of october whitetails and tell those morons recurve bows are no more "outdated" than a fly rod.
Some Einsteins gave it bad reviews because of equipment.
-
Glad Gene learned how to say "akern" correctly !
-
The only suggestion that I have for the new primal dreams video is show some more hunting footage. I love to watch you guys shooting your bows at big whitetails, bucks or does it doesnt matter just a few more hunting scenes would be great.
-
Thanks Barry can't wait to purchase it the last one was fantastic whole family enjoyed it even those that do not hunt
-
Gene/Barry, I think the next Primal Dreams would be really great if it included more hunting footage of the "average Joe", you know, overweight, balding, and not quite handsome fellows, oh wait a minute, you two are in it. Dang, I was gonna volunteer for the part! :)
Good luck and I anxiously await the pictures and stories from this year's hunts!
-
Ifen it aint a akern then what is it called?
-
-
83 hours in a stand-- 300+ deer seen already.... Living the life up in Iowa!!!
I've been in a lot of hunting camps with "seasoned" bowhunters... It's always the same.
What are you doing after this hunt, I ask? "I'm going fishing in FL or out west to chase mule deer or down to Texas to hunt Javelina" ect. ect. ect...
Then they ask me. My answer is always the same as well.. "Me, I'm going back to work".... LOL
Good luck up there.. Let us know when the big one is down.
JDS III
-
Barry, and Gene says the hunting has been slow? Have you been peeing around his treestands? 63 bucks? I don't believe I have ever had a deer season where I have even seen 63 deer period! Which one of you two wants to be the first to adopt me?
-
"Slow"??? HHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHAAAAAAA,come hunting with me boys, I'll show you SLOW!!!!
-
I read Barrys embarassing numbers and thougth I'd share my "real life" numbers..... hunting central LP of Michigan. Since Oct 1, 6 hunts, average 2 and a half hours on stand, have seen 7 does and one 3 point buck! To many small land plots around here.....
Jon, I think I need to move up on their adoption list (at least in front of you) for 2 reasons- number 1- I'm still hunting for my first trad buck, trying to break the 100 inch mark- so I've been passing little guys for loooong time. Number 2- LOOK AT YOUR PICTURE! You have got it done in the past- and hunt Illinois- not MI......
-

I'm not sure I've seen that many in all my seasons combined. :biglaugh:
-
Slow, ya wanna hear sloooow.. I've been out for over 30 hours since the season opened on the 18th and have only seen 1 doe. Now thats slooooow!
-
You should see Barry's numbers from Montana!
-
Thanks Biggie,
You really know how to cheer us up. Have put in about 25 hours on stand so far and seen 3 bucks, two does and two unidentified deer.
-
SWP you have the same problem that I have...
Those boys live where the deer live.
They don't play golf, go bowling or spend time at football games. They scout deer instead.
Being retarded helps......
I meant retired.
-
Sorry guys. I've gotta clarify the fact that in October and December I'm usually hunting a lot of food sources and some field edges where I can see deer at longer ranges. Now is about when I move in deeper and quantities go way down and quality goes (hopefully) way up. bw
-
Good luck Barry, and remember to put film in your camera.... and see you soon.
Mike
-
You want to talk numbers? Last week, I had over 150 deer in my super secret alfalfa field. Of course they were all big Montana Mulies...You know mulies...The more grown up and cooler version of whitetails!
Sorry Biggie, Barry and Mike...I had to get my Mule Deer dig in!
Pete
-
Biggie,
You got that right, my biggest deer wouldn't even draw the brothers attention or interest. Welcome to IOWA "The worlds biggest foodplot"
-
On the next vido. More hunting content but spread through out the same kind of footage on your last one
-
Pete, everybody knows that mulies are just retarded whitetails............
LOVE YA!
-
barry/gene im a new trad bow hunter . i put the compound away.my wife purchased masters of the bare bow for me last xmasi loved it.i would like to see a video going in depth on trad bow tuning and equiptment.
-
Yeah Pete... those whitetails laying in the weeds with their chins on the ground hiding like cowards. Give me a mulie that stands there and takes it like a man! :^) BW
-
I have to go along with Gene and Barry on things starting out slow this year. I live about 20 miles from these two guys, am semi-retired and have clocked in about 52 hours so far in the woods. I've seen 37 Bucks (4 over 150) and not a one would give me a shot. 88 does/antlerless (which I did take one of them so far) and 6 different Bobcats. The largest male seems to enjoy my company from a distance, I see him quite often and call him Bruno as he seems to enjoy chasing anything that gets in his way except me. Some of you guys may think thats a lot of Deer but for me that is sort of slow around here. Just had to throw in my 2 cents worth.
-
Anyway guys good luck and keep us filled in on the good stuff!
-
Hmmm...Uncle B and Sweet Biggie. How about a little more love for those Mulies.
They can't help it if there just a braver and more masculine critter...
Of course I don't have a whitetail spot to hunt and I never draw an Iowa tag...But, Maybe next season...
Love ya guys!
-
A mulie doe fawn... the lowest form of deer life. BW
-
Uncle B...I love mulies. OK, maybe not the lil' doe fawns...but those big ol muley bucks are worth loving.
Hey, Tyler Carlson has invited me up to the Flathead to chase whitetails on his place. He has a pretty good spot...so I'm told. Hmmm...I might actually save my A-tag for a whitetail this year...first time I've done that in many moons!!
But, of course if a 150" whitetail was standing beside a 150" muley...I'd shoot the muley...because they are way cooler...and mostly becuase I never get shots at 150" whitetails!
Peter
-
Aw come on Barry - they are so cute when they walk up and sniff you - how can you not give them credit for that?
-
There's chatter about of a 175.....
Someone's got some splaining to do.... :campfire:
-
Gene sent me this picture a few days ago, I think he shot it on the 9th.

-
WOW!!!!
-
Holy smokes! That's a beautiful whitetail buck plain and simple! Congratulations Gene.Would love to hear the story.Paul
-
:jumper: :jumper: :jumper: :jumper: :jumper:
-
Another monster buck from the Brothers..... great looking buck and now we wait to see what Uncle Barry does....can he up the ante, or is that one the King of SE Iowa this year????
-
That buck has a hole in his left antler. I'm guessing the real story is that Gene shot him in the antler, and then Barry finished him off with a shot to the vitals. That is a real beauty Gene, good job and thanks for keeping the fire lit for the rest of us.
By the way, I think I will draw an iowa tag next season. You are looking thinner from the last time I saw you in Texas. Maybe next season you can help me drag one out like that.....it will help with the last few pounds you are trying to shed! Again, absolute beauty of a buck. I like the bladed brow tines.
-
A beautiful buck Sir. Congratulations!
-
Just another day at the office...PR
-
WOW very nice buck..There's never any hole's in Gene's. How do you do that. No blood anywhere. Congrats..
-
Man, I've got to make it to their bootcamp someday.... :readit:
Congratulations Gene, that's a serious buck right there. I'm not sure I could even hit one that big through all the knee-knocking and shakin-fever going on in my stand.
Now, my question is "Where's Barry's big deer?" :saywhat:
-
Wow.
Wow!
WOW!!!!!!!!
That's a dandy Gene! :clapper: :clapper:
-
Now that's what TRADITIONAL IS ALL ABOUT...Man that's a "Primal Dream Extreme" Pic right there...Hey that's what you should call the next Video we are all waiting for... Congrats and God Bless! Keefers <")))><
-
Someone asked me how I got a pass through shooting an arrow fletched at both ends. Check the photo. Go figure. Actually both Barry and I have been sick with chest colds. I have almost three quarts of loogies saved up in the freezer for Biggie. On antibiotics and high octane cough syrup that I'm not supposed to drink when up a tree. I sat on the bench the entire first week of November for the first time in my life. I got great trail camera pix of this buck on the scrape three days before I killed him. Got the shot on film too although the impact was not pretty. Hard to film oneself and gitter done too. I had clean clothes on and showered before going out but honestly, I thought the menthol cough drop would void my efforts. Nothing smelled me even downwind. Very lucky. I passed up another big 4x4 a few minutes before I shot this one. Biggie wouldn't have had the self control.... :>)
-
Great Buck! Gene, he doesn't look very old. Did you age him? I'm not diminishing him in any way, just curious.
-
Congrats and I hope you guys get to feeling better soon.
-
I pulled the teeth to send in to a lab. My guess is 4 1/2 but he was too good to pass. My plan is to carry the video camera until late season. Barry's camcorder went on the fritz and he missed some great footage this week. I'm outta here....
-
Shame on you Gene...taking a little spike fawn like that
All kidding aside, congrats. We don't see very many like that up here in the north country. My problem is I see a big doe and my mouth starts to water. The next thing I know, an arrow appears in her vitals. Oh, well, those big antlers are kind of crunchy anyway. ;)
My eldest son shakes his head and says, "Dad the doe killer." Then he says make sure you bring me some deer sticks...kids!
Looking forward to seeing the video, Gene! Thanks for the post.
-
That thing looks like he has a bannana for a main beam!! Nice shootin' Geno....
-
Nice buck, Gene. Congrats!
-
I don't know about the self control Gene-o but my buck went 60 yards, how far did yours go?
Just whispered to Uncle Barry who called me from his tree. He's seen two good bucks in the last hour. One a 160 at 38 yards....
-
Gene, I can't believe you wasted an arrow from that Shawnee on that little guy. I thought you grew them big in Iowa?
All kidding aside, Congrats on a wonderful buck!
I better get my but in gear or you are going to take up all the space on Bobs trophy page.
Mike
-
Congrats on a great deer!
-
Very nice deer.
-
Congrats Gene Wensel.
I read in some of the earlier posts that you guys are working on another DVD...can`t wait.
-
Congrats
-
Congrats great buck.
-
Way to go, Gene!! Congrats!
-
Tell Barry I had nothing to do with his broken camera.LOL! Congrats. on a beautiful buck.
-
Never thought I would see a Wensel dressed in anything but Wool, let alone Sitka Gear. Just kidding, great buck.
-
not a bad buck for a flashlight salesman
-
Lol yeah - what the heck is up with that arrow? No wonder the deer looks so clean if you tickled him to death. :-D
Great deer!
As to the possible new Primal Dreams - I'm watching the original right now and I honestly wouldn't change a thing. More of the same would be great as far as I'm concerned.
-
joebuck--Now that is funny right there!
Cool looking buck, and I've seen the trail cam pics from a few days prior. They are very cool as well.
-
I take that back - I would change one thing. This time, at the end, whoever that is carrying those two enormous bucks should carry three of them or something.
Every time I see that scene, my jaw drops.
-
That is one heck of a buck! He's almost as nice as a big muley...
Gene...you look very athletic and handsome in your Sitka Gear...You should see how "sexy" Biggie looks in his...
-
NICE!!!! congrads Gene.... can't wait to see what else you guys come up with this year. Tell Barry if he needs a back up camera man to let me know.... Have camera will travel...
-
You know, I thought you looked thinner in that picture. I didn't realize it was because you were wearing Sitka gear. Guess I gotta get me some of that stuff!
-
Awesome buck Gene!
-
Awesome buck. I kinda like muley's myself and that doe fawn will grow up to have buck fawns and that's what makes her special I think :)
Jer Bear :)
-
come on Gene, let me know the secret. I've got six arrows in the fletcher, ready to do the other end if that's what it takes!
-
I just got home again last night. A lot has happened in the last couple weeks. My computer says I have sent out my "limit" of emails in a 24 hr. period since I've been trying to catch up. I'll try this to see if this'll go through. Stay tuned. BW
-
all right!!!! can't wait bud :clapper:
-
Come on Barry, give us the goods!
-
All right. It went through. As Jon Simoneau said, seeing/hearing tales of success gives a guy inspiration to stay out there and make it happen. I guess it works as street talk is Jon got a nice buck last week too. I still don't know how to post pictures so someone smarter than myself may be able to post some later. I guess you all saw Gene's buck earlier in this thread. He shot it in a great pinch-point stand. I let the area cool for a week and went into the same stand the afternoon of Nov. 16th. 3:45 PM here he comes, all alone cruising for does. I was shooting one of Paul Schafer's personal bows that I inherited. I wrote about the bow in the last issue of PBS magazine. The bow has quite a history, which I won't get into right now, but it's a 60 inch takedown. Since I'm "vertically challenged" I have to be careful with the lower limb clearing the side rails on some of our ladder stands. The main trail/pinch is fifteen yards and my limb cleared fine. The problem was the buck came by at a whopping 13 yds. and I had to drop my bow arm a couple inches in the heat of the battle. Yep.. the lower limb hooked under the rail and I blew an absolute sucker shot at a good one. He was a basic 6x6 with bilateral forked G2s and bladed tines. He looked like one of those big Canadian bucks. You guys will all get to see it someday too as I got it all on film. Anyway, no excuses... stuff happens. The next morning (11/17) I watched a limping 4x4 come across a pasture from 800 yds. away to ultimately walk right under my tree. He got about 15 yds. behind me and out of nowhere came the one I've been after. I named this one Popeye because he appears blind in his one eye. I assume he took a tine over a doe with a pretty face. He's a big 5x5 with a neck as big as Biggie Hoffman's stomach... well.. almost. Anyway, he's 15 yds. coming right down the tubes. When he clears the branches he'll be about 8 yds. Just before he steps out he sees the limper with his good eye and turns to chase him away. Bye-bye Popeye. On the morning of Nov. 24th I had a doe and a button buck walk by at 7:33 AM. Just before they hit my scent stream, over the hill came a nice 5x5 cruising for action. He came by at 18 yds. and I shot him while his neck was stretched out lip curling the doe. He wasn't Popeye (the one on my most wanted list) but like Gene said, he was too good to pass up. I took out his heart with Schaf's old bow. This one therefore means a lot to me. Unfortuneately, with the doe and button right there I wasn't able to even turn the camera on with everything happening so quick. Sorry folks.. the hunting is primary and filming secondary. More good news though, Mark Mitten got a 147" 4x4 a couple weeks ago... and this morning in a snow storm filled his second tag on a beauty. It's only a 5x4 but the G2s are over 15 inches. He'll gross 174" and net 167" as a 4x4. Anyway, I just wanted to keep everyone updated and wish all continued luck in hot pursuit. BW
-
Your bro just sent me the pix...that a great buck Barry...and with a special bow to boot... just AWESOME!!!! :clapper:
-
I guess that means you would like a hand putting pics here...but there is no way I will claim to be smarter than you :D

I hope you can put Popeye out of his misery before Friday!
-
Gene and Barry, those are a couple of toads!!!!!
-
congrats on a beautiful deer!
-
Makes you wonder how big "Popeye" is don't it! Very nice bucks guys.
-
Popeye is VERY cool:
-
Oh yes, Popeye is definatley cool!
-
All right.. thanks Steve-O. See.. I told you Popeye's neck was almost as large as Biggies stomach. Actually when I took that top photo he was standing about 25 yds. from me. But I was walking down a gravel road. He had a pretty little doe between he and I. Shooting him from the roadway didn't feel right so I watched him walk away. I circled around in front of him to try to cut him off though. Another smaller 4x4 came through but Popeye and Olive Oil didn't show. BW
-
Uncle B, I can't believe you'd even think about shooting some poor, helpless old blind buck like this popeye character
-
As long as you set up on the right (as in right not left) side of the trail you shouldn't have a problem drawing undetected on that guy.
-
Great job!
-
That's a good lookin buck Barry, Great way to honor Paul.
Tony
-
Dont let popeye get to the spinach patch you might have a fight on your hands!Greatstuff guys, been slow down here in v.a. also. :notworthy:
-
Too good to pass up is an understatment! Beautiful deer Barry! What a great year in Iowa!
-
I got word Mark Mitten says it is OK for his buck to go in here, so here you go fellas:
The Brothers of the Bow do things the right way and work very, very hard for thier successes. I for one am very, very grateful they share some of their knowledge along with some of their hunts with these pictures, dvds, books, and magazine articles.
-
Hey Barry, thanks for the update. And what an update it is! That's a beauty of a buck. Looks like everybody is happy......except the bucks! Now how long do you have to wait before you can hunt the late season over there?
-
Gotta love it all! Great work, men.
-
WOW is all I can say. Great bucks guys. I think I would be shaking way to much to hit any of them if I ever saw them walking past me. Where I hunt I'm lucky to see a nice 8 pt every other year or so (public land in NLP MI). Good luck with Popeye!
-
Way to go Barry, Gene and Mark. I love seeing them pics of the brutes you fellas do battle with every fall.
-
NICE buck Mr. Mitten!!!
How long are those G2's? Wow.
Matt
-
Ah just went back a page. 15"! That's awesome.
Nice buck for you too Barry. That's a nice 10 and a great shot it looks like.
-
Great bucks all....big congrats!
-
Barry very nice. Just like to say It was very educational hangin out with you this spring. It was an eye opener...Thanks Tucker
-
Mark is probably a little too modest to tell you his buck was taken on public land day before yesterday.
-
WOW!!! Is all I can say on those deer!!
Thanks for sharing!!!
chris <><
-
Hey Barry, I just realized, that your buck also seems to have a bit of a hole in his left antler. Must be a twin thing. I should have been a detective. Just call me Columbo. I have put the pieces of the puzzle together. First Gene shot his buck in the left antler with an arrow fletched on both ends....then you finished it off with a shot to the vitals. Then a little while later...you shot your buck in the left antler, and then Gene finished it off with a shot to the vitals. Hmmmm.....can I see a picture of your arrow? I think maybe you two should just fletch one end of the shaft, and then put a woodsman on the opposite end. You'll end up with less deer with holes in their antlers!! I'm willing to try anything you guys say works for whitetails, but I just fletched an arrow on both ends, and shot it at a 3d target from 15 yards, and I ended up with an extra hole in my face! How do you guys do it?
-
Come on Jon, you're a "brother of the bow", post a picture of the buck you just got for the guys to see. I wanna see if there are any holes in his rack. I called Iowa DNR and they said because our bucks had defective antlers we could each go for another one. All right! bw
-
Hey Barry. There is a post called "Good buck riding in the truck" that shows a buck I killed on public land on Vets Day. Check it out! Then I killed a good 4x4 at home on the 17th. Unfortunately the coyotes got to him before I did. I tracked him for either 16 or 18 hours. I can't remember now, and he went about 300 yards. No Exit hole. Got only one lung on a quartering away shot 5 paces off of my tree.
The trackers in Africa that Gene hooked me up with tried to teach me.... but I'm a slow learner. They even named me "Corky" That's why it took me so long to find him!
-
Seriously though, I love hearing your tales from Iowa. Keeps me going strong. All whitetail hunters owe much to you guys. Thanks so much.
-
Great deer guys...have you heard if Daryl K. has gotten anything yet?
-
And these guys never quit...
Uncle Barry with another Iowa buck taken tonight. Looks like the old Silvertip is still putting them down!
-
The guy has no shoulders yet his bow stays up there without glue or bungee cords. How does he do it?
-
Looking at that pic posted on Nov 30th; my God, is that a Kiwikee Kwiver mount screwed to the side of your riser with wood screws?!!!!
Have you no shame? The Trad Police will be serving a search & arrest warrant on you in the near future! Better hide your stash of modern cheater tools like binocs & nylon safety harnesses & such...
I'm not one to admire folks I've never met but I have to admit I do like you two boy's style & sense of humor. You would be welcome at my campfire and out here at Critter Crossing any time...
-
Probably has inserts in the riser for a quicky quiver. I have them on my Hummingbird recurve.
-
if you met them you would admire these two, quality guys !
-
Dang Barry, that's another beautiful buck! Nice way to end the season. Plus that is a great picture.
-
Just caught up on this thread.....great stuff guys...congrats all around!!! :jumper:
-
Congrats to everyone, nice bucks! You lucky dog Barry, season just ended here a few days ago and I miss it already! Bunny hunting time! :jumper:
-
Congrats Barry! You guys had an awesome season!
-
Congrats to you both this season!
-
Congrats on a great season!! Love to read the stories you guys have.....I bet the untold ones are even better,LOL!
-
:clapper:
-
Congrats Barry....you two are just awesome!! :notworthy: :notworthy:
-
Awesome bucks! Are the Mitten and Wensel bucks all from Iowa?
-
Congrats  Gene, Berry and Mark.
-
Wiley Coyote- No, My brothers and I took our bucks in Illinois. I did hunt Iowa this year but passed on young bucks, and never really had a chance at the big guys. It was fun though. Mike
-
Mike, my 2008 Iowa buck was more Young than Pope. Every time I wanted to sit one of the good stands, Barry would talk me out of it. He'd say "it isn't really the best wind" or, "you should really sit so and so".
Who would argue stand selection with Barry Wensel?
-
Biggie, I purposely put you on a mediocre stand sort of to buffer/cushion the Iowa monster shock syndrome. I can't help it if you've got no self-control. You've gotta start LISTENING to me. Now it's gonna be another three or so long years before you again get your chance to prove yourself. All I can do is take you by the hand. You're responsible for dropping the string. Pitiful. bw
-
You know Barry, I just wrote that in another thread about Gene. Same thing for you; you are both very WISE men :D
People would be better off if they LISTENED to the experts rather than just hear them. I know you are just kidding around with Biggie, but it is true.
Kind of like Mike's new book...people are going to learn a LOT if they pay attention and READ it.
-
Hey Biggie, what's the deal? Nothing wrong with that buck at all! Don't let those two bullies get to you!
-
I agree with you on Mike's new book. I talked with him yesterday. I'm really looking forward to it. It sounds like he's really gone all out. From the high dollar, quality paper it's being printed on, to the 132 quality COLOR photos. I've helped edit some of it. This is going to be one of those books that will make the reader think. And that's desperately needed in recent years. No matter what the selling price is, it'll be worth it. Knowledge can't be bought... or maybe it can! :^) bw
-
Oh, and I should mention Biggie, I really like that big 4x4 I saw in your post on the trophy room thread. Can I have him?
-
We plan on printing 334 page book tomorrow, and hope to have it ready by the last week in January; if all goes well with hard cover binding. It’s called “One With The Wilderness” (Passions of a Solo Bowhunter) and I will have more details available soon. Information and ordering forms will be available on www.brothersofthebow.com (http://www.brothersofthebow.com) . I also plan to be at Trad. Bowhter. Expo. in Kalamazoo Mich. the last weekend in Jan. and have my fingers crossed to have books by then. Thank you so much for your interest, Mike

Hey Barry, off topic a little. Are you and Gene gonna be at the Harrisburg show this year?
-
No way Jon...that was one hunt when I ignored Barry's stand suggestions. See the result?
:-)

MB: No Harrisburg this year. Gene and I will be in Texas running the javelina/hog bowhunts from Jan. 30th through March 7th. Still have two slots open for the March 2-6 hunt if anyone's intersted. Thanks. bw

Biggie, I told Barry I thought you shot a "nice little buck." He said I was half right.....
-
Right before I shoot I always try to think, "What would Uncle Gene do?"
It never works.........

Don't feel bad Biggie those "Wensel little" Iowa bucks have to look huge compared to what you regularly see. Its not your fault you drop the string on them! :)
