Title: Point of aim with 800gr. Battleshafts........
Post by: snag on November 19, 2008, 07:26:00 PM
I brought out the Battleshafts I have made up with 160gr. tips. Shooting them with my 55#@28" recurve, 3 under, I found that at 20yds. they were dead on with the point on the bullseye. Just seemed convenient. I know, I know...shoot instinctive... for some reason it just seemed kind of cool that they are point on at 20yds.

Point on is a magical place.  I was on a pig hunt a few years back and this little fellow show up with a 50s curve at 45# and some 2117 arrows a shop had sold him.  He could shoot himself if he had 3 shots.  I dug through my stuff and came up with some light weight cedars and put some 160 griz BH on.  They flew great and magically they were point on at 15 yds.  It was his first hunt and he killed two pigs the first night at you guessed it 15 yds.

Like I said it's a magical thing.

My point-on is 55 yards with a 500 grain arrow, and it's still super deadly at 10, 15, 17.3 or 22.5 as well 8^).
