I may be inquiring about a subject that has been discussed before. However I could not find any results when I did a search of the site. My question is...Is there a distinct differance between Gateway and Trueflight feathers? I am asking because of some differance in colors and pricing. Gateway seems (from the venders I have checked) to offer more colors and styles for a lower price. It would seem to me that a feather is a feather. Don't want to put any company down but if there is a differance I would like to know what it is. Thanks.

I use both.
Trueflight sems to have a thinner and wider base. Gateway has a more narrow base that is usually on the thick side.
For me, Gateway cuts easier in feather choppers.
Trueflight has a better looking barred feather but Gateway has the camo feather that is pretty nice.
Generally speaking, I use them interchangably but tend to Gateway for the chopping... unless I need barred then I always use Trueflight.
Performance wise, in my experience the arrow can't tell the difference.

I say there both good for differnt reasons . when I first started I like the thicker base on the gateway it was eaiser for me to glue an work with they may be a little stronger. As I got a little better I happen to come across tru flight I think tru flight has a thinner base for a much cleaner job and there color slection may not be as big..but there pattern is the best. second to only the real thing. get a dozen arrows an make six an six. an you decide!

Pro's Trueflight: Great Quality, quills ground nice a smooth. Barred feathers fantastic.
Con's Trueflight: High Priced, Could use a few more brighter colors.
Pro's Gateway: Great Price, Many bright colors,
Tre Camo Colors and Fantastic.
Cons' Gateway: Quills are thick and not smooth, Barred look not so great, may find a bad feather or two out of a hundred.
I have not found if one will out last another longer or not. You can not mix Gateway and Trueflight.
I will be adding Gateway feathers to my website shortly, I will have LW Shield cut.

Been using trueflight left wing shield cut 5"feathers for awhile now and haven't had any problems. I fletch them up with a 2/3 degree off set. Using glue is a thing of the past. Fletch tape is great. Haven't had one come off since I've been uing it. Even the pass thru's on deer stay on the arrow. Removal is easy with now mess.
I buy mine at 3riversarchery.com
Good luck!!!!! :archer:

Thanks everyone for the replys. I kinda figured that there would not be too much differance if any.

I like trueflight the best. I don't mind paying the little bit extra for a better grind on the quill. Gary

Where is the the cheapest place to buy full length feathers?
-
As far as prices, this place is pretty good and their service has been good as well. $36 for 100 pack of full length true flights.
