Title: New Traditional Club in Central Indiana
Post by: NightHawk on March 02, 2009, 06:40:00 PM
Yep, we're doing it. Some of us have been talking about it for the last couple of years. I have been in talks with Morgantown conservation club, so as to be able to use the grounds for stump shooting, 3-d targets, airial(sp)targets or whatever we as a club want to so.

I'm thinking we can get togather once or twice a month.

Would this be in addition to their regular shoots? I live about 4 or 5 miles west off of 252. I hope this works out.

I will keep an eye here for this unless you will be making notifications of how this is coming together somewhere else.

If you need help let me know and I will do what I can to lend a hand.

I'm overly busy but have promised myself and my kids more woods time throughout the year.  No promises but I'll make what I can.  Thanks for setting it up.

it's in addition to the conservation club. We'll probably have a meeting sometime soon and anyone interested should be there. I have to talk with the board at thier meeting but the conservation club president liked the idea very much, so did the rest of the conservation club officers that were present. So it's a go just has to be done formally during thier meeting.

Charles,

Are you still making those turkey calls? Those were awsome sounding and a work of art.

UPDATE: 1 door closed, looking for an open window :-)

After recieving initial permission and before being able to present the idea to the board of the conservation club (board meeting 3-18 )I recieved a letter stating that we couldn't use the conservation club.

It is a little disappointing as I should have at least been able to present the idea to the board before they made a final decision. On the bright side the board wanted anyone that used the property to pay 50 dollars to join thier club, which was unacceptable to me, so it's best we not consider them to host the club.
In my opinon though if they won't support us as trad shooters, I don't think I'll support thier shoots or anything else they have. Am I thinking wrong on this? I don't like the rug being pulled out from under me ,especially after recieving unformal permision.

Time to look ahead. I will check and see if we could possibly use the archery range at Atterbury wma as a place to meet. I'll also check into Presnells. I know he lets the Christian Bowhunters have shoots there.

I'll end the same way I began. When a door closes, the good Lord opens a window. I'll be looking for that window :-) If anyone has any ideas, jump in as this idea belongs to everyone, not just me

A thought on this...and only a thought.  How about holdng a quarterly get together to get going.

Have all that are interested meet for a day of shooting and campfire cooking in March, June or July, and then August.  This could be at someone's place that is willing to let host it.  Everyone bring a 3-D or two and we set up a shoot that costs nothing.  For the fourth quarter we could go to the Outdoorsman in Greenwood, or somewhere, and do an indoor 3-D in January or February to kill the cabin fever.

In September sometime, we all could get together for a good fall feed and bring our family memeber(s) that don't normally attend or shoot with us, for a Hunter's type fall rendevous to usher in the upcoming season.  Maybe get some door prizes for the ladies that won't see us as regularly as they do in the other months.

This might be a way to avoid contentions with other groups and still see this through.  If this is not an option; please put the seat down when after you flush...I catch it for that all the time.

Regards, Charles
