Anyone tried the new umbrella type pop-up from Summitt? After fighting my "pop-up" Matrix this weekend I'm ready for something easier...
-
:knothead: How is it you "fight" with a DB? I know you're not alone either bud, I don't understand it though. They explain it really well in the instructional DVD, but I know guys still struggle with it.
I got my first one back in 2000, watched the instr. and within a day could set it up very easily. Sometimes a new blind can be a little "tight", but they still open pretty easy.
When a guy gets them figured out, you should be able to have it "popped" in about 10 sec. from when you have it out of the bag....
If you want me to come and show you how to do it, you can invite me down when I drive down to N. Ga. in a couple weeks :goldtooth:
-
I havent seen the summit blind yet, but I have used one of their climbers for about ten years with GREAT results. I would imagine their blinds are well built too.
I have yet to actually hunt out of a blind...just feels off to me somehow...
Going to check Summit's website now...
-
I cant find anything on this...maybe a different company other than the treestands?
Have any links Biggie?
-
Guru ol buddy, if you can pop this baby up in 10 seconds, I'll give it to you!
Jamie, I saw it on tv last weekend. You sit down and put your feet against it and pull a cord, it pops open like an umnbrella but is a full blind just lke the Dbl Bull.
-
Wow, I'm getting another DB :clapper: :goldtooth:
I'm gonna send an e mail later bud...
-
You gotta hold yer mouth right, Biggie or it won't work. :banghead:

I will keep an eye out for it. I have never tried a DB, but I have heard more than a few people have fits about them.
Curt, N. Ga? Turkey and hogs? Good luck bud. Might have to head up here in May some time...
I think Im gonna give spring turkey a serious try this year....been about five years since I went.
-
For the Biggster....first shot right out of the bag.... (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v77/Guru39/turkeys/th_12-08snowdoe.jpg) (http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v77/Guru39/turkeys/?action=view¤t=12-08snowdoe.flv)
Not sure how long that actually took, but I know I could do it even faster!
But for the record...if I was in tight on a bird, I'd do it slower so I wouldn't make as much noise....
-
I never had any problems until I got this Matrix. My other Dbl bulls go up easy.....
Brooks said I'm an idiot.
-
WOW, I was ready to lay my two bucks on biggie keepin' his blind......But it looks like biggie better not give you direction to his house unless he is ready to give-up the DB.
I have a T2 but I'll be honest with ya, sometimes it works great but other times I just work up a big sweat.
-
I want to see a video of Biggie opening his!
-
Doesn't the saying go something like...."its like putting a Biggie inside of a Guru-sized bag?"

-
VERY funny guys.......
:bigsmyl:
-
I saw it on TV last weekend but I swear I can't find it anywhere...I'm ALMOST sure it was Summitt...
-
Biggie, I saw an ad for it in the new Bowhunter mag. Your not crazy, its a Summit. Like you said, they talked about it opening like an upside down, inside out umbrella that you used your feet to open it. Scared me just thinking about it. Its probably got 50% let-off.
-
I hear that Brooks fella is a purty good judge of character. Actually Biggie, those blinds are made for fast set-up by lightweights, I can't set em up that fast either!
-
Why do we have to go thru this every spring...
The big man is NOT fond of directions :D .
You didn't untie it again did you Biggie?
Is it Osceola time yet?
-
Biggie call the NWTF...home office in Edgefield,SC..Summit had a big booth there in Nashville several weeks ago at their National Convention...Your right...that blind is awesome and it will hold you and Marty
-
Biggie... have you adjusted the straps on the inside of your DB. They can be loosened which makes set up a lot easier... look in the upper corners of the blind.
Been there, done that...
-
Curt, I need instant replay, I think that was 11 seconds. Biggie I'm trying to help you out here but a video of you opening yours would help. BIGGIE,BIGGIE,BIGGIE! Let's see it.

Biggie I had one of those Matrix's and had trouble with it also. I sent it back and exchanged it for a T-5. I can set my T-5's up with out any problem. I guess they are right, you can't teach old dogs new tricks, at least in my case.

Well Biggie, Brooks knows........????
Hey, if I can get to you before Guru does, is the offer still good?? Hope you found some birds, I know you will be after them this weekend, let me know if you find out about that blind and I will check with some sources at Summitt and see what they say, have not heard of that, but will definitely have my DB out this weekend! Just have to hold off on building my ark, if the rain will stop long enough>>> :) !
-
That was impressive Curt... Brooks would be proud of Ya! :clapper:
Biggie, Here's a link to the info on the Summit blind and how to set it up:

IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Ron, We really need to get together my friend, it's been way too long!
Looks easy to set-up, but a pain to carry such a long package....
Biggie, I had a Matrix before I had this Darkhorse...I really think the Darkhorse is the best of both worlds...and yes, maybe a bit easier to set up....
Is your Matrix a recurve model? They can be a tad tougher to set-up for a little guy like me because of the size.....
-
Don't start making excuses.....you said ten seconds!
-
Biggie...even Schuster can put one of those up..RC
-
the summit blind looks pretty good, does anybody know the dimensions & cost of it.
-
There's a lot of interesting blinds on the market today with DB probable leading the field...but if it's quick and easy setup and take down that you're looking for I don't think you can beat the Hidden Hunter blind made right here in the USA.
The guy in this video clip is 6'4" and the first blind he sets up is the 5X5 gun blind. The 2nd blind is the 6X6 bow blind and it shows him shooting a 60" longbow out of it with no problems.
I think portability plus quick and easy setup and take down are most important features to be considered when choosing a blind.
Considering the state of our Country today I think products made in American to be a huge factor also. :archer:

Summits are about 6ft plus in diameter and cost around $240.00. Not sure about trad bows upper limb clearance though, from looking at the pics. Window seems high. Will have to see one first.

Biggie, you bring it to camp and I'll practice till I can get setup down to 10secs....I need a blind. :bigsmyl:

Biggie, biggie, biggie can't you see, somtimes your words just hypnotize me.
I love that song! Oh, wrong forum.
