Title: which finish or what

Ordered a H.H. "OWL" blank should be here in about three weeks.Question is HOW to apply a good finish and which one ,,spray on,(can) or brush,and SPAR VARNISH  or MIN-WAX. Going to use clear to show the Osage,Boo lams.Thanks,,,,,
