Always wanted a Shrew, so when this came along, I talked to the wife, got a green light, and now...I have one. Mikey, thank you for me, and for my boy!
Original Shrew 54" 56@26. Very stout little bow. Shoots em fast, and hits pretty hard. I was shooting 660+ grain arrow with it, and missed high when I missed. I also managed to take down a few aerials, 3-d targets and a couple of muzzy type blocks. I need to build up to the weight a bit(63ish at my 28" draw) but it is growing on me very quickly, as I hear Shrews have a habit of doing.

Now this bow was refinished by a prior owner, so I have no serial number or specs. To me, that doesnt matter much, as it seems to work for me. Not so much as a small scratch.
As a bonus, Mike added a little 16# longbow for my son. He is thrilled. I imagine he will have it no other way than to be shooting with me ASAP.

Mike, a pleasure. Thank you for all you have done for me along my "traditional transition".
Enjoy the pics guys.

Nice bow, Jamie. Good to have an understanding wife.
-
I was wondering if anyone would notice Killy. That is my first shed, found literally ten feet from one of my stands.
Should prove to be a good summer. :goldtooth:
Thanks pdk. You are right on both counts. :D
Forgot to say I am shooting 2216's out of it for now, but any info on what would work would be greatly appreciated. Im hoping for skinny carbons that are heavy enough. I need something skinny for the shallow shelf...

Yeah and if you don't have an understanding wife, keep a hidden savings account and have friends at the post office!!!
Nice bow Jamie.

Very nice on both, alway cool to see the future Bunny Hunters. Big Ed

Thanks guys. I think I will have to hunt MORE once he gets old enough. Man, that sounds terrible, doesn't it? :D
-
Congrats...I couldn't be happier with the used Super Shrew I recently purchased. So much so that I have a new one on order. Light, pointable, no hand shock, quiet...what's not to like. :clapper:
-
Very nice Jamie, congrats :0)
-
If anyone has or has had one of these older Shrews and has some arrow advice...Im all ears.
Izzy, we missed you too bro. Good times were had by all. :saywhat:
-
Beautiful bow! I didn't know that would really work (asking your wife, I mean). I'm too scared mine would say no. Great pics. of your little guy, too!
-
Jamie,
At your draw, CE Heritage 250's with 100 gr inserts and 250 gr points cut to say 29.5" should work great out of that bow. 30" would probably work also. They are pretty skinny and very tough.

Fritz, I fully expected it wouldnt. She said yes because we agreed not to exchange gifts for out birthdays or Christmas. Then our son got her some really nice stuff... :D Said she owed me.
Danny, I was actually leaning towards the Heritage. I think I have a bareshaft 250 in my pile of stuff...will have to check and start playing...Thanks for the starting point.
-
Ishi, I forgot to give you back your arrows I found on Mikey's course Sat. I'll hold on to them till I can catch up with you...ok? Oh yea, Nice old Shrew, to stiff for me..LOL...
-
Nice!
-
Yeah thats fine Ron. I realized that after ya left myself.
Im working up to it Ron...
Thanks Katie.
Ok, I was just out playing with the new bow while the boy naps...
A 2216 with 200 up front flies like a dart. 125 up front hits good, but has some wobble. Im going to try some bare shaft tuning tomorrow...Have one 250, various aluminums and some lighter spined woodies. Wish me luck.

I'm gonna set up some MFX's 29" long spined for 60#'s in the next few days. I hope to get around 650grains total, so I'll let you know how it works out. If I find the right arrow I'll send you one to play with
-
Man Greg, ya have hundreds of arrows laying around?? Thanks man, I appreciate it.
-
OK, got a chance to shoot a CE Heritage 250 at 28.25" bareshaft(with a wrap) with 225 up front(regular insert). It flew ok, and ended up nock right after the impact. I know this isnt the "planing " method, but I only have one 250. Should I fletch it and carry on? What does nock right typically indicate? Im having one continuous brain fart on this whole thing...
The MAJOR difference was my ability to shoot with less canting(had to cant a lot to keep the 2216's on the shelf).
Im just trying to figure out a general idea of what kind of arrows to order...any help GREATLY appreciated, as I am compiling numerous ideas and trying each that I can. Thanks everyone.
-
Too stiff. You could add more weight up front or just get a CE 250 29-30 inches and you should be in the ball park. Good luck and let us know what ends up working for you! Thanks.
-
I have a bow with the same specs. I only have a 26 1/2 inch draw and I am cutting my shafts to 27.5, but I am using Beman MFX Classics 500 spine with 210 up front and they fly great. Just information to give youself a comparison. Sounds as if you may be a tad on the stiff side.
-
I just shot some 50/55 woodies(fletched arrows) and WOW. I think Im on to something...lower spined, but the flew great and hit just a tad bit right.
Thanks for the input guys.

My Super Shrew Delux is 56@27". I shoot cedars spined 60-65 cut to 29inch. I also use 2216s with a judos for roving. I am no arrow tech but these arrows seem to fly straight for me. :) :wavey:
-
I forgot to say it is a 58 inch model. :o
