What is the best 3 piece longbow out there? Let's hear everyone's opinion. If you have pictures, throw those in there too. thanks guys!
-
Well, I have an ACS CX now, and will have a Morrison Shawnee in a day or two. I would have to rate these two at or near the top of any list!
Here's my ACS

I've had a Shawnee--liked it but didn't love it.Now I have a Hummingbird Kingfisher--Like it better than the Morrison.It's smooth,quiet and fast.
-
I have a couple Great Plains 3 piece longbow. They are great in my opinion and often under rated. Solid smooth shooting bows. dino
-
RER gets my vote.
Billy
-
For a 3 piece, I really like the Fedora Xtreme.
Mike
-
:campfire: ACS-CX, Morrison Shawnee
-
Don't have one, but I have been around the Dryad 3 pc. longbows and am pretty impressed. Baseline bow is a steal as well. Mike
-
I really like my dryad orion!, its my favorite longbow
-
The best of the 3 piece longbows I have shot are Crow Creek and Hummingbirds. The Hummingbirds are the best looking of the two. My two cents . Flinthead
-
Hummingbird , RER , Crow Creek , my top 3
-
Just have one, but I can't imagine a better shooting bow. Pronghorn 3-piece!!!
-
I'm really liking the T/D Horne Brushbows. Not the fastest thing out there, but quiet as a mouse and hit where you look!
-
My vote is for the Orion also. Not only great looking, but smooth shooting and the personal service from Mike and Jason can't be beat. First two are mine and the third is my son shooting his.

Depends on what feels good to you. I think the pronghorn is the most graceful looking, but the ACS and Morrison the best, albeit expensive, performers. For hunting, most all are quite, quick and lethal...depends on what works for you. I'm shooting a 3 piece takedown I made based off Binghams plans. 6 deer in two seasons...shoots great.
-
I like the looks of that Orion!
I'll take my Sapphire... or windauer's, or a Yellowstone...sweet bows!
-
Lot's of gorgeous bow in this thread. I'll have to go with my Dakota Pro Hunter custom longbow. Here's a video, if you'd like a much closer look.

Zipper SXT!nuf said. Best three piece longbow I have ever shot and I have shot them all.

After spending the day at Kevin Gerlock's (Cupcake) house, I'm sold on his T/D longbow. Very fast, very quite, no stack, and shoots right where youu look. This guy is someone to watch, with his skills he will only get better. I saw Beachbowhunters bow getting glued up then mine's next.
-
As of right now I have four I can compare
and have had several others which "don't compare".
My all time favorite is my Shawnee with Bamboo Dakota "C" Limbs.
The next 3 are pretty well tied for second and in no preferance order as I like em all........
Firefly, Pronghorn, & Great Plains and be assured all of these are excellent bows or I would not still have them. [Even with this terrible economic situtation when lots of bows are being sold] These 4 are all "Keepers".

I really like the Firefly made by Jim Jones. I have never shot a 3 piece bow as well as I shoot his.
-
I've shot and owned the Morrison,Pronghorn,SXT Zipper, and ACS.I got a call from Chris Cox of Habu.My number was next and he built me a triple carbon Vyperkahn that exceeded all my expectations and the other bows.
-
there is no such thing as "the best 3 pc longbow". opinions about gear is just that - other folks ideas about what works/doesn't work for them, and not necessarily what'll work best for you. good luck in yer search, try out as many bows as ya can!
-
Morrison Shawnee has my vote - I have 4 of them.
-
What Rob said.
For me I like shooting a bow I built/designed myself. Of course. It probably wouldnt be everyones fav. but to me it rocks. I have owned and really liked a Shawnee Dakota and Pronghorn.
Dryad bows have got to be nice with Mike and Jason at the helm. The 3 piece longbow is my favorite hunting bow by a long ways. There are so many out there anymore you just have to date a few and eventually (or not) you will fall in love (ok, maybe lust) with one. No hurry...they are all fun along the way.

Sorry I had to post some pics!!

Brack Non-typical. Performs great, quiet as a church mouse and as good craftsmenship as there is.
-
Like my firefly but it's the only one I have used. Nice bow and lots of guys like 'em on here. I think there are too many very high quality and beautiful bows out there to pick a best for sure.
-
Easy.
Black Swan
Firefly
that's it for me.
-
Rob nailed it. I just wish we could all get over this idea that somewhere in Never-never Land there is something called "the best xxxxx bow". There is not now nor has there ever been such a critter. It is all totally subjective so just find the 3 piece that YOU think is "the best" for you and be happy :bigsmyl:
-
Now you've done it! :campfire: :coffee: this mmight be 3 cup mornin :goldtooth:
-
the WhippenStick 3-piece longbow
-
Unless you value best in "terms" of 5 or 6 fps, pretty much all the listed bows are as good as another. It mostly comes down to what feels best in your hand and what you think is pretty.
-
Nice bows, everyone likes differnt styles and traits in bows. The best 3 pc. longbow bow is the one that feels good in your hand, that you shoot well and becomes your go to bow. Thats why there so many excellent choices out there. Its also fun to shoot them all till you find the one thats right for you!!! Have fun looking!!!
-
To answer your question - There is NO best 3 pc longbow. There are many good ones. No one is going to tell you what is best for you, even though they think they can. I am not even sure I know anyone who has shot all the bows listed on this thread enough to give them all a good review. People fall in love with a certain bow, then fall out of love. Check the "Bows for Sale" for proof of this.
-
I agree with Irish. Who wants to shoot the same old tired bow all of the time? Not me. I love looking at and shooting different bows. JMO
-
I understand that there is no "best longbow." I'm just looking for pictures and input. sorry for the confusion
-
I like the FireFly by jim jones, the grip is great and the limb design makes the bow a pleasure to shoot and it moves an arrow!
Great price on a custom bow too..
here's my two..62" and 60"

Timely thread...I am shooting longbows and am considering a TB LB. Is there a "difference" between a 2 piece and 3 piece? any sort of input and feedback would be great. Thanks John
-
I agree with what Rob and Irish said, but for me the best by far is the RER LX. The grip is what makes any bow for me and Kevin has the best for me. They are very quick and super quiet. I have an all bacote with bamboo cores and it smokes and arrow. Danny have ya shot the LX by RER? Shawn
-
Just got a Bear's Paw three piece take-down through a trade. Very nice bow.
-
I bought the Bob Lee Classic Elite takedown longbow in 2007 and I love it.
Great craftmanship and they've been in business since 1951.
Darren
You need to buy whats best for you.
-
Pronghorn!!
-
We have to quit calling them "Longbows" nothing long about them! Alot of pretty bows and great wood combos tho!
-
Elmer Patton builds one of the finest takedown longbows out there. His Blackfeather feels as good in my hand as any bow that I have had the pleasure of shooting. His prices are VERY reasonable for the quality of work that he puts into one of his bows.

I am partial to the Bear's Paw. Excellent grip and fits me perfect.
-
Ever try a Quinn stallion? Now that's not a pricey item but it sure shoots em hot.
