Hey All, I just wanted to share with you one of my winter projects i've been working on for three months and finially finished!! this is a yote that my bro linc picked up for me back in jan, it was a fresh car hit and linc knows i don't like waste!! this was one of the prettiest yotes I've seen in awhile! anyway after thawing her out and skinning(which was a task)i proceded to flech and then on to the tanning process, all of which takes time and with the temps in the freezing area all the time i found it hard to get any work done on it!! But finially I finished her up!!

Good work Jim!
That is one *nice* quiver.
Did you tan it yourself? What method?
Also, what did you use for lining the quiver - a rigid vegetable tanned leather or a heavy latigo or ????
Enjoy!
Shoot straight, Shinken

Nicely done!

Good lookin quiver. I made one just like that a few yers back, it was my first homemade quiver. I loved it for winter 3D shoots, but found it got pretty hot to wear in the summer. I gave it to my son. He loves it, but says its too hot to wear in August! Theyt sure look good though.

Thanks everyone, this is my second back quiver the first was a deer hide tanned with the hair on! learn as you go right? this yote quiver is one i'm very proud of as it not only looks nice, but is very functional, It sits perfect for me, and holds the arrows even when bending over, It will be to warm for use in summer months, but i'll use it late winter for my small gaming bag and cooler weather 3-ds!
shinken, I did tan myself using an old family recipe, eggs/veggie oil,it is a long process! the liner I used was made out of that fake leather stuff, forgot what it's called!! This kind of work is getting hard for me as way to many years ice fishing, trapping with my hands in frezzing water is starting to catch up with me,they don't have the strenght the used to have, and hurt after being in the cold!! thank you all again for the nice compliments!! Jim

Izzy, Linc is not a real by blood brother but a brother just the same, a very good friend, who has blessed my life, he got me back into trad archery several years back, taught me most everything he knew about trad archery! he has built me a couple self bows too!! i never had intrest in the napping but i know where to go when i get the hankering!! Yea he is a real great guy, taught and inspired me into the quiver building!!

Thank you for the feedback Jim!

-
That is cool looking.
-
Very Very nice.
Well we now know you have the shills, and we know you have a camera, so i say the next one should be a build a long, what do ya think guys?
-
Brain tanned without the brain! I admire that almost as much as the quiver! Very nice job!
-
Thanks guys, I had thought about doing a build along with this one and now i wish i had!! this was a tuff critter for me to skin and flech out as it was frozen solid as a block of ice! It took me 6 hrs just to skin, with a small space heater and the temps below 0 every day! the wonderfull wife didn't want it in the house!! at any rate if I'm successfull trapping and or hunting them with the bow next fall/ winter, I will do a build along and a giveaway on it when it is done!! what you think??
John, sent you an Pm,and thank you for bumping this back up,as i had forgotten about it!!
-
I wish you did do a build along. I have a yote I would like to make into some thing like that. Sweet job you did. Very nice.
