I wanted to try some Beemons and was going to get some bare shafts cut about 1/4 inch apart but want a starting point. If I shoot 29 1/2 inch Carbon Express 150's with 225 or 325 up front should I get longer or shorter Beemons to start out with?
Bows are 45-47 @ 27.

You don't want the Beman 400's, in my opinion..
I think you'd be much better off with the 500's and I expect you'll still be able to load up the front end as much as you want!! Good shafts, I shoot them a lot..

The beman 500s will spine just a pinch lighter than the CX 150. I shoot both, and the bareshaft at the same length.

I would go with a Beman MFX 500 .500 spine,a CE 150 has a spine of .487 and th Beman MFX 400 spine of .400.The 400 you would have to leave full length and load up the front and you would likely end up with a 600+ grain arrow. The 500 would fit better for 45-47# bows, but start full length and trim and tune from there.

The cx are the toughest shaft you can buy. I shot one into a saw blade yesterday out of a 80lb bow, it bounced half way back to me and it didn't even crack it. The second shot split the first inch only.
straight, tough, and pull out of foam a whole lot easier than Bemans.
Just my 2 cents.

I agree that the Heritage arrows are tough as nails, but I get much better flight out of the Easton Axis arrows. To make them tougher, I just footed the front two inches and back 3/8". I hit a steel bar dead center yesterday and had no damage to the arrow.

Bemans are fine, but there should be no reason as to why you couldn't make those CX fly better. Sounds like they might be a little week at that length and tip weight. If that is the case, you could try cutting the shafts a little.
just an observation.

I have some Bemans but they are cut too short. If I miss my target I hit a brick wall and the Bemans have fared much better than the CE's.
But the main reason I wanted to try the Bemons is the smaller diameter. Shouldn't they penetrate better on live game?
-
That is their claim, but has not been proven. As a matter of fact, it has been shown that there is no advantage in having the smaller diameter shaft.

What Beman shaft are you wanting to try?
MFX or ICS? HIT or ViBrake?
What CX shafts are you shooting now? Heritage, Maxima, Rebel..?
No two carbons are made the same. Each one has it's own spec's.
