Title: Any interest in a quiver swap? See "rules" page 2...Draw results on page 3....
Post by: ishiwannabe on June 28, 2009, 09:52:00 PM
I was in the all famous knife swap that Jeremy holds. Timing caught up with me, and I had to bail, much to my disgust.

Anyway, I have some leather and Im getting ready to make a quiver or two. I know there are alot of people out there who do the same so I figured I would put this out there...besides...can you ever have enough quivers?     :D

I was thinking rules would be simple. Has to be functional(read huntable), something you made or "upgraded". I figure if we're making em, rh/lh shouldnt be an issue, as we could change it as needed. Capacity of a minimum of 3 arrows...

Well, what say you? Ideas...suggestions?

If you are interested, respond here. Maybe if there are enough takers we can go from there...

I'll play  :)

I'd recommend changing it to a minimum of 3 arrows though... that opens up the mini bow quivers which are a great project - I think there's a 'how-to' somewhere around here for one as well.

Good call Jeremy, forgot about the minis...edited.

I was thinking of a material list...but I think as long as it can hold up to the wear of hunting and possibly getting wet, anything should work. This opens it up a little...you know bark, reeds, leather, heck I even have a bunny brush busting home made job made from PVC.

I think this is gonna be fun.

How about any type quiver: target quivers.  I would be willing to join if any type of quiver goes.
We had a quiver swap a couple of years ago and all types worked, from store bought to homemade.  As long as it was a functional quiver, it could be traded.

Edit: I guess I should've added that the last quiver exchange was more along the lines of a White Elephant; send yours to the person that posts after you, so on so forth

I was thinking about store bought/production quivers...but I dont know. I thought  the variety of everyone making or tweaking something would be fun....if you have a store bought quiver, dress it up....snake skin...leather. Something that makes it unique...  :D

Target quivers, as in the 3d tubes side quiver? I know a few who hunt with those...    Im sure that would be fine...

Those of you that are in, PM your addresses and what type of design you are in for...this way I can figue out a way to randomly select names. I will also need to know if each of you are RH/LH so I can make sure ya get what ya need....

This is going to be fun I think...8 by my count, and rising.  :archer:

Absolutely Ron. I was leaning towards home made only, but decided if it was dressed up or tweaked it would work too...What comes to mind, skinning a bow quiver, making a bow quiver. I think as long as it isnt a store bought mass produced item, it should be fine. Any suggestions or comments on that from anyone?

As long as everyone knows its a random thing...I think Im gonna put names in a bag and have my two year old pick em out then pair em up as he draws them.

Some great stuff in here already...Im gonna have to up my game!! Some of the pictures I have recieved are amazing...and Im sure everyone noticed a few "pros" signed up. No pressure.  :saywhat:

Looking good. I still need quite a few addresses and whether you are RH or LH....Pm me the info, as long as I get it before the swap actually happens.

Also getting a lot of Pms about the "rules" so here goes...

Any weather ready material is good to go. Of course, the more "traditional" the better...

Must be able to hold up to hunting use.

Store bought, mass produced quivers are ok IF YOU HAVE IMPROVED/TWEAKED them...ie, added snake skin

Three arrow minimum.

Doesnt matter what type of quiver it is...

No serious modifications needed to use the quiver...ie, no drilling into someone's stick bow for quiver inserts.

Sign up by July 15th.

Be prepared to make RH or LH compatible quivers, or ones that can easily be switched accordingly.

Well folks, I think that about covers it. If you take the time to see some of the names already entered, I think you, like me, will try your hardest to make something-for lack of a better word-worthy of some of the talent involved.
This is strictly for fun...with the intent of everyone getting a special piece of archery gear.

Lets have some fun...

Odd number now...anyone else want to get in on this?
I have been really busy at work, so Im sorry for the lack of action...

Im looking at the end of August for the actual swap. This way, those building the quivers, like myself, have time to complete it.

So far we have 13, I would like another or three to make it an even number, but if not, we will make it happen. Gonna extend the enrty date to Saturday.

Ian, I never heard from your friend...

Thanks for the patience all...

Results are in!!

I put all the names in a hat and we had fun pulling them by one...two year olds dont know what one means. He helped, until he decided to de-book a bookcase. The names are paired, simply contact that person, or me for an address and go from there. Swap must be done by the last day of August...before then is fine, just realize some people have to make the quiver still so a delay may be needed.  :saywhat:

Here we go...

Tim Roberts and Larry Surtees.

Jeremy and Deadpool.

Shortstroke 91 and Gatorgar

Ian Johnson(LH) and Wisconsin Wood Butcher.

Ron W. and Eric W.

Razorbak(LH) and Gator Rastler.

Hope everyone is happy with the results, and that the two lefties can use what is swapped.   :D

Thanks everyone for playing!! Sure would be nice if ya post pics of what ya made or what ya got...
