I have a new bow that didn't come with a string. It is a dacron only bow. I have 2 strings in my box of tricks that are the correct length. One is endless loop and the other is a flemish. I know the flemish is a few years old but I have no idea what bow it came on or anything. Is there a way to tell if it is dacron of FF. I have used both on the bow and they seem to give about the same performance as far as arrow spine goes. Can I melt an end piece of the flemish and tell whether it is ff or dacron. I guess since both are manmade then they will both melt. Any other way to tell? Any characteristics of the two strings.

Pull out a tag end on the flemish and cut it with nail clippers. If it cuts easily and cleanly, it's dacron. If the clippers won't cut it, or will just barely cut it, it's most likely FF.
You can also count the strands. If it's original FF, it should be at least 16 strands but will still be fairly slim. 16 strands of dacron is a "fat" string.
