Do you have to have recurves cased while in a vehicle or is unstrung legal? I don't know if I am going to take it yet, but if I do , do you have to have the off road vehicle sticker on a mountain bike? Thanks, John

I haven't hunted for a while, but unstrung is legal, case not required last time I checked. There was some talk about an offroad sticker a while back, but I don't know what became of it. You can google Colorado Division of Wildlife, the website is a wealth of information.

no sure on the mtn bike but all quads have to be placarded from the state.
Any weapon must be cased at all times while driving.

1)you do not have to have your bow cased or unstrung in a vehicle.
Only for ohvs (off highway vehicles (4wheelers) you need to have the bow cased. If you just unstring it, you will get a ticket, it has to be cased on a 4 wheeler.
2)For a bike, you do not need a ohv sticker.

3. Hunt carelessly or discharge a firearm or release an arrow disregarding
human life or property.

unloaded and cased, or with a bow unless it’s unstrung or cased. Compound
bows must be cased, not unstrung.

Thanks guys, guess I'll be looking around for a case, just don't have much use for them and they usually collect dust in the attic but I don't like worrying about being legal.

I got a soft Strung Longbow case that I use on my ATV and it will hold my recurve or longbow ether strung or unstung. I detach the quiver and carry it straped to my day pack in the front basket when I use the recurve or I use a GFA quiver for the longbow and carry over my shoulder.
I carry the cased bow along my right side by using a two piece gun rack with one mounted on the back of the front rack and the other mounted on the front of the back rack so the bow in the case will lay in them along the side of the ATV and inboard of the finders so as not to get caught on anything. I also use a tie to hold the bow down just in case I hit a bad hole or rock that would cause the bow to jump out.
You can get a soft case for not a lot of money (less then $50) or you could do the same thing with a unstrung case for about $25 but you would have to string the bow up when you get read to hunt.
