Title: Single vs. Double
Post by: K. Mogensen on August 21, 2009, 10:05:00 AM
Hey guys,

I am getting some eclipse broadheads soon and I'm trying to decide between a double bevel and a single bevel 145 gr. head. What would you guys recommend? I've heard good and bad for both so I'm still undecided.

Thanks!

I would suggest you opt for the style you are able to get the sharpest.

I shoot the single, get a KME sharpener and you will be very pleased with the performance.

No luck with sharpening single bevel heads--I have been trying off and on for years. The Ashby studies are interesting but, IMHO, of little practical importance for most of us whose major big game experience is with whitetails, maybe elk. I have now gone to the STOS head which looks and behaves a lot like a Grizzly but is oh-so-much-easier to get super sharp. The Woodsman is a great head, too.
