Title: Wheeze works
Post by: razorsharptokill on November 11, 2009, 08:27:00 PM
I jumped a buck out from under my stand on the way in this afternoon. He never got a look at me but heard me.  After he bounded over a small rise I wheezed at him. I'll be damn if he didn't come back and stared at me for several minutes. I finally had to give up and get up in my stand.

If I had been smart, I would have got set up in some cover and wheezed at him. He may have come right in.

What the billy-be-jeemzis is a wheeze.  Do you mean snort?  I'm new at this.     :saywhat:

I beleive he's referring to a snort wheeze. I have seen/heard mature bucks do that to scare off sattelite bucks while tending a doe. I would be carefull snort wheezing unless you are trying to work up a big boy! The little guys in most all cases will tuck tail and get out of dodge if challenged with a snort wheeze!

I've called in a couple of dominate bucks with the "snort wheeze"  Unfortuatley we are not shooting bucks on the place this year.

I think I did a "snot wheeze" once, but I didn't call anything in.

I've been doing a bunch of wheezing, but I found out today it's because I have pneumonia (seriously).  No hunting for a week or so....

Tryed a snort wheeze on a small buck  that came to the rattle this morning He put it overdrive and ran away from me looks like it only works on mature deer   "[dntthnk]"

I first heard it when hunting in MO a few years back.  I wheezed at an 105 inch 8 point on state land last week- and he decided to not mess with me....  must be he's not the boss of the swamp.
