Title: Stuck at home and can't hunt!!!
Post by: Arwin on November 17, 2009, 12:56:00 PM
Wow,bad things happen in groups of 3 so hopefully we are set for a while,LOL!
First a head gasket went out on my car, I thought it was a water pump until I saw coolant coming out of the head gasket. Too pricey to fix right now!
So we decided to fix a Jeep I was given and been tinkering with, just needed a wheel bearing and muffler. Well, while fixing it yesterday, I found out the rear brake lines are shot on that. ARRGGH!
Then last night on the way home, my wife hit a huge doe and torched the front of our van. 3 payments away from being paid off. Luckily we still have full coverage and a $200 deductible.

Man, I am so thankful nobody was hurt but all this stuff can wear on a guy especially during hunting season! I guess it's not too bad since it is our firearms season and many buffoons are in the woods, but still hard to not be out there anyway. No cars right now, maybe I could ride my mountain bike out to hunt,LOL!

I know exactly what it feels like.  I had a season like that last year.  This year it has been really good so far. I hope your luck turns around soon!

Well I kinda no how you feel last night I went coon huntin with my great uncle came home late and my papaws truck was in our driveway it turns out my papaw came down here from Daton ohio I live and Williamsburg to give my mom his truck so I could take my truck huntin this morning.Because weve been short on vehicles since she totaled her car had to take one of ours that was very nice of them. But anyway coming home from hunting I pulled a 180 rounding a bad curve 3 miles from home ending up stuck in the ditch on the other side of the road.

Arwin,
Thankfully, nobody was injured. I can definitely relate to bad luck though.  I'll keep you and your family in my prayers. At least you've got some free time to shoot your bow!LOL!

Know the feeling, just came back from a week of hunting the Stonington peninsula in Michigan's upper peninsula. Was supposed to be a combination duck hunting and bow hunting trip. Well on day two my hunting partner, my Yellow Lab Molly, drove something into her front paw, which I wasn't aware of at the time. She let out a big "yelp" and did a little limping around and then seemed to be fine. I gave her paw a good exam and couldn't find anything wrong. She seemed to shake it off and we went about having our fun chasing birds. By the next morning her paw was about three times it's normal size and she was hopping around on three legs. Time to find a Vet fast. Tough to do when you're in the middle of nowhere. By the time I finally found one she was running a temp of 107 and going downhill fast. Only 20 hours after the big "yelp". Well to make a long story short, after the right diagnosis, the right antibiotics and a $933 Vet bill she's on the road to a full recovery. Needless to say I didn't spend as much time bowhunting as I planned taking care of my "hunting buddy". Hard to believe how fast a nasty infection can take down a healthy 70lb Lab.

I feel for all of you, my season never got started had back surgery Oct 5th been moping and recovering since. Where I live is a gated resort area and they have a management archery hunt to cut down the number of deer.My house is at the end of a road and the deer pass through my property every day,the agony last week was extreme as five different buck came through chasing this one doe,I hurt all over the entire day as the activity lasted all day. On my daily walk I walked up on a doe bedded in a bunch of weeds off the road and standing behind her a nice eight point, this is fifteen yds off the road.I hope to be back in action our late season which opens the day after Christmas, this is the first archery season I've missed in 56 years of bowhunting, very one keep the faith and spirits high.
